Good for Robyn! I'm glad she got a chance to go on as Holly. I was wondering if Amy would go to the Chicago anniversary celebration. I suppose so!
Luke and Laura thing? I've missed something...

Her skirt she pulls off in the same number went into the pit. Fun.
I was there tonight.
I can vouch for Tristezza.
Robyn was on for Holly and it was her first night. So many technical glitches but she held out like a trooper.
For "Saturday Night" she did take off her dress and fling it into the pit which I thought was interesting. Then, at the very end when Holly comes out on the chair and does the whole "Flashdance" routine...nothing came out. Just Robyn. They lowered the water tube and she stood under it...grabbed the chain...pulled it...and got DRENCHED. She just danced and flailed around completely splashing the first row. It was very fun. I brought two friends with me and after being glittered and splashed they asked me if there was anything left to expect to come their way.
Then during "Right in Front of Your Eyes" when Holly is supposed to stick the rose into the slit in the ladder...the rose fell forward and got tangled in Robyn's wig...but she played it off fine.
I like her take on the role. I love Amy...but Robyn is a definitely worthwhile substitute while Amy is out. And after the trauma she went through tonight, I'd say she earned her stripes.
It wasn't until after the show that I found out that the platform that the chair rides out on at the end of "Saturday Night..." malfunctioned and wouldn't budge. So, Robyn just went out there and did what she had to do. And, might I add, did it wonderfully.
I gave her a hug afterwards and she said it was nice to see a familiar face in the audience.
Peter made me laugh so loud during "Single" that Eric LaJuan started laughing and continued laughing through the end of the song.
Laura and Kevin had some great ad-libs during the scene where Robbie is writing a song for Linda. I like Kevin...but I guess I just prefer Stephen. Kevin is a great performer and he definitely holds his own in the role and has his own unique interpretation. While Stephen is more the "sensitive rocker"...Kevin is kind of the "dorky rocker" if that makes any sense. He couldn't be a nicer guy, or more talented. He does great. But Stephen's physical comedy and persona just make the role for me.
Felicia was wonderful as always. So was Richard, Constantine and Kevin.
Angelique was on for Adinah. I have the hardest time believing she would be Julia's mother...but she still plays it fine.
FYI...Laura has some scheduled absences this week so Tina will be on Thursday, Friday and the Saturday matinee. Laura will be back for the Saturday night show.
Also, congrats to Richard, Andy Karl and Nick Kenkel for getting cast in LEGALLY BLONDE. I look forward to seeing it.
And how funny is that "Luke & Laura" thing? I wish I could be there to see it...but I went tonight instead of Wednesdays when I usually go. And I know my bank account can't handle another withdrawal for a little bit.
So...that was my experience this evening. Another unforgettable night at THE WEDDING SINGER.
Blah. Double post.
WAIT. What is this "Luke and Laura" thing again?

thanks for the review, foanatic
i was just wondering, it might be a little early to judge, but would you say Robyn or Cara is/was better as Holly? sorry, just wondering...
Ikmb- I'm going on Sunday :)

I wouldn't say better. But Robyn is a very good understudy and will not dissapoint those who can't see Amy.
FOAnatic, how were Robyn's vocals? I know Cara didn't have the type of 'powerhouse' voice Amy had, and went as far as to headvoice the big note in "Saturday Night in the City." Was Robyn any better in that department?
I don't think it's fair to judge yet. I would give Robyn a few more turns on before making an "educated decishion" :-P
I remember at the beginning of her run, I was SO not a fan of Cara's Holly, but as she grew and evolved into the role, I began to like some things she did, better than Amy!
Robyn's vocals were fine. She definitely has more of a "musical theatre voice" while Amy has a very signature voice. She can do musical theatre and she can do pop. Robyn did have a little trouble with the belt at the end of "Right in Front of Your Eyes" but it's not an easy note to hit.
Her performance was truly wonderful. And, considering all the obstacles that were thrown in her way, she held out like a champ. I really liked her acting. As the show progressed she became more comfortable in the role and you could tell she was having a lot of fun.
But her singing was fine and I'm sure will improve with more practice in the role. Though, I don't know Amy's schedule or why she was out last night so I have no clue just exactly how much practice Robyn is going to get.

Orch Row R... I'm going with 3 of my friends who haven't seen it before so it should be interesting.

Ooh, I sat Orch row S almost all the way to the left when I saw it the first time and it was a GREAT view. I hope your friends really enjoy the show!

I'm also going with a friend who hasn't seen it. I'm right orchestra row 11. Not sure how many seats in. It's where I saw it for the first time. I was hoping for a different view but I'm fine with any tickets now.
My marching band isn't performing Saturday. That means I can go to the show!

first time making something this big on paintshop pro. It's a bit weird but I thought someone might like to look at it.
That's cute.
Of course, since my band teacher decided to let me be happy for once, it looks like my mom is taking back her permission to let me go.

thanks. I should probably get better over time with the bigger stuff. The little stuff liek this is what I am better at.
