There's usually always two understudies, in case one of them is unable to perform. For example, Nicolette Hart is the first cover understudy for Linda, but going by what other's have said (I'd have to check my playbill to make sure), Ashley Amber Haase is also a Linda understudy. And I believe Nicolette is the second understudy for Holly - should Cara not be able to perform, she would go on. This is just like how David Josefsberg is the first cover for Sammy, but Matthew Stocke is also a Sammy understudy.
Also, I was able to go backstage Memorial Day weekend...I brought my father, step mother, and step sister to the show for the first time, and it was my stepsister's first Broadway show ever, so I had a mutual friend of mine and an ensemble member's work it so he could bring us backstage. My stepsister was in AWE when he came out and came over to say hello, and said he could bring us backstage if we wanted. She still hasn't stopped talking about it.

god, i am soo jealous! i have to go backstage but i dont wanna awkwardly ask someone, thats just wierd.
and i just wanna say that ashley amber haase is also amazing in the show, especially the opening number! i ♥ her! ha ha, she really gives it her all and it really shows!
As far as I'm aware, Kevin is the only u/s for Robbie. I don't have a current Playbill, so I'm not 100% on that, but based on the info from the one I do have when Matt was still the u/s Robbie, he was the only one. But now that Kevin's listed as being the u/s, I think Matt is first u/s for Glen and second u/s for Sammy. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong if you have a more current Playbill..
I'm pretty sure Matt is still listed, that would be pretty cavalier of them just to have ONE understudy for the lead.
You're right, Matt is still listed as being a Robbie u/s, but he's second cover for that and first u/s for Glen as I assumed.
Haha, cavalier or not, Matt was the only Robbie u/s before Kevin was bumped up!

^I'm sorry, I dont have the lyrics- but I just realized something. Its really funny that Awesome wasn't in the movie, cause it totally seems like an adam sandler-esk song! haha. Though, its also a very VERY stephen lynch song hmmm... I wonder if lynch had any part in the writing of that one... hehehe
sorry, I'm being really random lol

I remember reading in an interview or something that that scene ("Awesome") was pretty much improved by Laura and Stephen during rehearsals, and they kept it. :) So yeah, Stephen did have a part... LOL

hehehe, I KNEW it!! it was too him for him not to have had a part in it and that tis why it is such a funny song, of course. hehe

Awesome
Linda makes me feel awesome
and when I brush my teeth she reminds me to--floss them
and if I had employees she'd help me to--boss them
and when my fish sticks are fried well she'll tartar sauce them
oh Linda you make me feel
like I invented the wheel
like a judge upheld my appeal
like a furtrapper clubbing a seal
oh Linda you make me feel
dont be afraid of a little harmony here
Awesome
Yes I am a loser and wrote down the lyrics, but thank goodness someone asked this on the LJ community and I already typed it up :)
Enjoy
I saw the show for the first time tonight, and I thought it was a lot of fun! Understudies were on for Linda and Debbie. Stephen Lynch was very impressive, and also very nice. I must say that I liked Amy Spanger and Kevin Cahoon as well.
The first/second understudies are actually not listed in the playbill. Its just listed as who the understudies are in alphabetical order. So you really dont know who is first for what. I could swear Kevin was first for Robbie and Glen and second for George.
jlc6314, Was Laura out? This friend of mine went to see it and told me he thinks Laura was out. But he doesn't know any of the actors, except for Stephen.

FabalaYero85--Thank you so much!!!!!
Sometimes when I'm listening to "Grow Old With You",I'd feel it was made by Stephen as well, but of couse not.
I just saw TWS in Tony Awards again~I'm thinking...does Stephen really play the electric guitar by himself in live???

Actually, no understudy for Debbie. It was Ashley and she kis the original. I thought it was odd how she was on the understudy board playing the role she originated. Is the playbill different now, with someone else listed as Debbie?

Stephen doesn't play the electric guitar live. he mimics the fingering of the chords and the playing, but its done in the pit. He does play acoustic for Awesome, Somebody Kill Me and Grow Old With You.
I could swear Kevin was first for Robbie and Glen and second for George.
I really have no idea, obviously. Maybe someone should ask. :p
ErikintheCity, are you sure it was Ashley Amber Haase? She got married about a week ago, and has been out of the show since on her honeymoon. I don't know when she is/was scheduled to return, so maybe she was back last night, but she would not have been listed on the understudy board. If there was someone listed on the understudy board as Debbie, it would be Joanne Manning, who's been covering Debbie while Ashley's been out.
Ashley was out on Sunday, and it was not noted anywhere. Not on the board, no playbill insert, nothing.

Ok guys-I've got a tricky one...does anyone know the lyrics for the 3 cut songs, "Eight Men", "Wonder", and/or "Right On Time"? Believe or not, someone was selling the sheet music for these 3 songs in PDF format on ebay at the beginning of the month.

wow, i love "right on time" but on the version i heard i couldnt inderstand a lot. that would be amazing if someone had the lyrics!! i dont think i would want to see the opening number without ashley as debbie cause she is sooo AMAZING at it! who else can practically hold a split the way she does it a good 30 sec?
and thanks for the words to "awesome" but didnt laura at some point sing "like the prize in my happy meal". and didnt she also sing "and if you wanted a pet shed buy you a..possom"? i swear ive heard those before, i guess they just changed them, ha ha.

Throughout previews they had many different combinations of Awesome. the lyrics that I posted is the song that is in the current production and the song that was recorded...
If I get bored later I may transcribe Right on Time.

Unless "Eight Men" and "Wonder" are on the demo, I... have never heard of those songs. I actually think "Wonder" might be, but I'm not sure. Haha.
