If you’ve been to any locally owned home goods store in the past ten years, you’ll know these kinds of candles are fairly prominent, featuring all sorts of celebrities/personalities on them: Catherine O’Hara, Jennifer Coolidge, AOC, Bernie Sanders, Oprah. It’s not some sign of insanity, it’s a novelty item. Relax.

We all have a inner bitch.  I would love it if Patti called me a bitch.

If Patti calls you a bitch, you've been LuPwned

Will Audra’s asterisk get its own pedestal?

A little late but….

”You’ll be a bitch but they’ll know your name from New York to Kokomo.”

(If they ever revive (and update) the show, they’ll be no shortage of magnificent Margos, ya know.)

Some very smart responses there.

"Danny Burstein, who is nominated for appearing opposite McDonald in “Gypsy,” said when he read the New Yorker article, he thought, “I’m staying out of this.”"

Smart man.

"“I don’t read,” Cole Escola, the star and creator of “Oh, Mary!,” quipped."

HA.

After the drama of the past few weeks, Patti actually came out ahead tonight, didn't she? She only received the mildest of references during the show (from Oprah of all people), she didn't have to attend and watch her nemesis ALW win and get on stage, and her preferred choice (Scherzinger) beat another of her (apparent) nemeses (McDonald), keeping her the last Rose to win. Not a bad night for LuPone at all.

It’s in Jan Maxwell’s bag now.

Yes definitely.

This season has been SO toxic and it has been very difficult and frustrating to watch Nicole and the show get trashed at every corner as well as be directly involved in one social media outrage and indirectly be involved in another.

It's been toxic to watch a group of people band together and unreasonably complain about Broadway's actual greatest star Patti LuPone (sorry Audra but you need to wait for both Bernadette and Patti to die before you can take the mantle off them).

Although a bit of a joke that the 500 names included this guy next to Rachel Berry.

I am certainly going to take a moment to enjoy this moment. It feels like Nicole winning is a clear signal that it's the quality of ART that matters most, that reason wins over emotion and that people will not be bullied into voting for whoever is the popular person at the moment.

Nicole and Patti have the last laugh.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Just saw the actual clip and it's better than the quote. The "I think it should be left up to the states to decide" is brilliant.

This comes off as some sort of dig on Audra. What exactly did she do? She has said nothing about Patti LuPone or Nicole. So I’m not sure what “last laugh” you think they got?

I personally prefer Audra out of all three of them so maybe I’m not objective, but, Audra is guilty of nothing here. And she has never said she wanted any mantle from Bernadette Peters or LuPone.

The negativity/backlash toward Audra on this board is really sad.

Audra has more Tonys than Patti and Bernadette combined. She’s laughing all the way into the history books.

So.. Audra finishes her Gypsy run, takes a vacation and continues her tv appearances and concert tours.  Hopefully she comes back to the boards some day. Patti has 3 television shows in the can and begins production on a new Ryan Murphy mini series, continues her concert tours and works pretty much when she wants.  Kecia Lewis.... let's see how it goes.  I wish them all the best.  I have love for all of them.

It’s not a dig at Audra. It’s more a dig to the people that wrote that letter and everyone who supported it. Basically trying to dethrone and cancel Patti. Patti gets the last laugh because no one has taken her Tony winning Gypsy crown away, and Nicole also gets to laugh because a similar cancel culture tried to take the award from her and it didn’t work (who Patti also likely voted for).

If it were up to the cancel culture mob Patti would be forgotten to history right now and Nicole wouldn’t have a Tony. Well they lost both battles and that makes me very happy indeed.

Is this the post of a balanced adult? You are reacting to this news similarly to McDonald’s small child last night. Sally’s reaction was sweet and funny because she visibly loves her mother. You are a stranger.

It’s a silly trophy, and she’s got plenty.

Have we gotten to the point where the people who claim they now never liked Patti are saying Madonna is their favorite Evita and always has been?
