Really don't feel like watching 3 minutes of him ramble, but BWW pulled these quotes:
"The Daryl Roth Theatre is a historic venue. It is beautiful and gorgeous, but it is a bank that has been transformed into a really creative space and what we are doing with this show is unprecedented for this theater. It’s a massive set. There are 140 costumes, and we are doing things that they’ve never done there before. And so in order for it to be safe for everyone, not just for the performers and the crew, but for the patrons and the fans and for people with disabilities, we just had to push the show back to just make sure that everything was buttoned up."
"You all know that I am a rebel and normally I’d be like, 'Let’s just do it anyway, risk it all, have them sign a waiver.' But I think that this show has been so carefully crafted, every stanza, every music, every piece of music, every melody, every everything, I just handcrafted it with so much love. This is the closest I’ve ever probably going to have to birthing a baby. And I just wanted it to be done correctly."
Sort of confused on what, exactly, is the issue; the language in these quotes implies it was about theatergoer safety and accessibility. (Also, the Roth was home to Fuerzabruta for years which seems far more risky and unconventional than anything Todrick Hall could ever cook up). And... 140 costumes?! What the hell is this money pit of a production?
And claiming they're canceling the first week of previews is a bit revisionist; the previews had already been pushed back a week from the initially announced start of 9/12. Waiting this long to make any kind of statement about cancellations is sus.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
