He will be fantastic, looking forward to this one.

Congrats on the show's 4 year anniversary.
I was at the second preview. I walked out glad I grabbed a ticket when I did because it had "hit" written all over it. IMO

Lord Jesus. Here we go...again. Those comments mentioned in the article don't mean anything happened but I bet this show is going to do its best to twist them around to stir things up again.

So it looks like the movie is doing the same and covering his life before the allegations became public.
Don't know if it is still in the show, I saw the second preview, but there was a quick "reference" as to what was to come. Can't remember the exact dialogue but something about a kid and his mom waiting for him, I think. A few people around me murmured.

It's not getting good reviews elsewhere. Rotten Tomatos has it at 30% so far. I still plan to see it.

It's baffling to me that we've apparently decided, as a society, that he didn't do it after all.

Which has nothing to do with the storylines of the musical or movie being discussed. So why even bring it up again?

Which, again, has nothing to do with the storyline of the movie or musical being discussed. Start an off-topic thread and go "discuss it there".

It’s a pity the Trump Kennedy Center closed before this musical could take up a permanent residency there.

Michael Jackson’s Music Was Too Big to Be Canceled
(NYT front page today)
A Broadway musical, “MJ,” once thought to be endangered by HBO’s two-part documentary, “Leaving Neverland,” has instead proved a sustained hit, selling 2.3 million tickets worth $328 million since it started performances in late 2021, according to the Broadway League.

People can complain all they want about the show and the movie, but it is quite obvious that his name and music still sell.
And there isn't a thing all of these people bringing it all up again can do about it. Just suck it up and realize these two pieces do not cover that part of his life. And the creatives were under NO obligation to include it when it hadn't happened up to the point in his life they chose to present. God knows there are enough shows out there that have covered it exclusively. Go watch those. There was more to his life. As a fan from childhood I am glad they are covering this part of his life in the show and the movie. There was a lot going on with him professionally between "BAD" and "DANGEROUS" that us fans were invested in and wondering how it would turn out. JMO

His name and music must mean a lot to people since they completely ignore the fact they are celebrating the life of a pedophile.

Alleged. He was not convicted. You can think what you want, but as a victim of child sex abuse who went thru the legal process with my family and another victim from school, I think that these things matter.

I respect your opinion, but for some of us, this approach to telling the story of Michael Jackson is sort of like making a movie about Harvey Weinstein's success as a producer without addressing the fact that he was a serial rapist.

Well put. And let's not forget the person in the WH was found by a jury to have assaulted someone, and folks still stay alleged. Folks will defend who they want to defend, regardless.
