It’s more likely an out-of-town try out to see how it fares here. The Manchester Opera House is quickly becoming the go-to place to try new shows to see if it’s a direct West End transfer or a UK tour first.
ArtMan - Did you do TodayTix rush, too? Maybe we were even near each other.
Stu does have an accent! To me it sounds like a British accent and I know Mark Evans is from Whales. In No, he even mentions how Miranda likes his accent, but I can totally see how it feels so slight you could miss it.
I do think Act 2 needs the most trimming and cutting because there’s some moments as you mention that drag. I so wish they’d find a way to condense the Mr Jolly stuff in Act One because I don’t think we need that much emphasis on that character plus the bit gets old real quick.

ClumsyDude15, No, I purchased the cheap seats in the last row of mezz for $49. I thought the view was great, not so much for the legroom. I just felt his accent was quite obvious in the first act, but seemed to disappear in the second act. I knew it was stated that "Miranda liked his accent". So I knew I wasn't crazy. In my section, we had a group from South America, who would not wear their masks and one of the woman was constantly on her cellphone, even after warnings from the usher. At intermission, I asked the House Manager, this person has been warned 5 times, at what point do you kick them out? She positioned a Security employee at my section, but he left and was replaced with an employee who spoke at full volume through their headset, standing right next to me. All during Miranda's number of why she chose to leave the marriage was ruined by this employee. I can understand audience member's poor behavior, but when it is staff, I have an issue. There was at least 8 people who came into my section without masks. If it was obvious to me, it should have been obvious to staff. Even the House Manager was oblivious to the above guy not wearing a mask. I had to point him out to her and the Security employee. The Security employee told him to put on their mask. However, after he left, he took it off again.

Likely to transfer into town pretty much straight after I'd say.
ArtMan - A friend of mine was up there in the mezzanine and said something similar about people not wearing masks and there being a big issue up there. I’m so sorry you had to put up with that. I don’t get why people can’t just abide by the rules. Didn’t the adorable pre-curtain announcement from Avery Sell make it clear you need to use common sense? I guess not in this case.

Saw this last night; got tickets through Audience rewards and was given fantastic seats - Orch P101 and P102. I couldn’t stop laughing the entire show! Rob McClure is amazing in everything he does but this especially…WOW. Can’t stop thinking about his incredible performance. Unbelievable. A true talent.
J Harrison Ghee was a stand out for me. Loved his scenes with Brad Oscar. Another standout for me was Peter Bartlett - he is always so over the top but that’s what he’s great at.
I really loved Charity - boy can she SING - but I felt her big number “You’ve Been Playing With Fire” was a bit odd. Did he actually go see her alone? Did he reveal the truth? Did she just figure it out? Maybe I missed something. Lol.
The movie is one of my favorites and overall, I loved the show. I loved the differences between the two but also loved how they managed to keep some of the most iconic lines and scenes from the movie. I hope to see this again after previews as well but 10/10 recommend! A fun night at the theatre, for sure.
Just adding my two cents. Got the rush ticket (row F, all the way on the right side) yesterday. After seeing many brilliant, but heavy material shows this season, this was a breath of fresh air. All has been said about Rob McClure's talent, but the rest of the cast is just as superb. This musical is a real treat and just perfect for the upcoming holidays.

In the show's pre-COVID iteration, the song (then titled "You've Created a Monster" was more explicitly staged as Daniel's nightmare. When I saw it a few weeks ago I just assumed the replacement scene was supposed to be the same thing but I think they could make that more clear if that's the case.
Side note - I agree about Charity. I was thrilled that she did that limited run as Becky in Waitress before going back to this show because her I Didn't Plan It was a highlight of that performance for me.
The cast performed a medley of the Act 1 finale and As Long As There is Love (I think specifically, the part they sing during curtain call) on Good Morning America this morning. The beginning of You're Rockin' Now was modified for this performance to have Brad Oscar and J. Harrison Ghee sing it as they're "finishing" the Doubtfire makeup rather than it being Daniel's solo.
Sometimes musical numbers don't work well out of context, but I thought that GMA performance was a travesty. A bland and cliche'd rock song and spastic choreography. McClure's makeup also probably looks better from the stage, because here and in the subway ads it looks pretty awful.

I just saw the show (phenomenal!) on Saturday night, and honestly, I'm questioning if that was even Rob McClure on GMA this morning. Even with the make-up, it didn't look like him at all... And lets be honest, since it WAS a number where he's in all the MD makeup and prosthetics, they could have easily passed off the understudy and nobody would know. I'm fairly sure that is what they did.
It was 3 songs mashed together with pieces of other scenes, which was OK, but kinda spastic but featured the whole cast, which is why they went that direction.
I saw the show last Friday and enjoyed it. Rob McClure is a workhorse in this show, not even a malfunctioning loop machine made him stumble (the time rap was so good). I enjoyed the show way more than I thought and I smiled from beginning to end. The audience was really into it, which made for a great night.

Rob posted on his Instagram story pictures of himself there, so it was definitely him. Also, his understudy (KJ Hippensteel) was in the ensemble of the performance and they have yet to announce a standby.

Thanks for the confirmation! Maybe it was just the lighting that threw me off....he looked so different in the actual show.
Jenn Gambatese mentioned in an Instagram post today, "...fun this afternoon at rehearsal as our orchestra expands!" and a trumpet emoji. Seems like Ethan Popp re-orchestrating the show and they're getting ready to implement it? The current orchestration is a rhythm section and string quartet, similar to Hamilton but with 3 guitars instead of 1, so I'm curious as to what they'll add, maybe a small brass or wind section?

Interesting. Surprised this didn’t happen during the pandemic break? But I’ll never complain about an orchestra expanding, which is rare in an increasingly electronic world! Someone please report back when the orchestration changes.

it's interesting that they don't have a standby yet for McClure and only one understudy. I'd assume one will be hired once the show officially opens.
