Previews for MRS. DOUBTFIRE begin this Monday, March 9th at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. According to some stuff I've seen on social, they had an invited dress run-through on Friday night. Did anyone go? Anyone planning on going for previews? Excited to see what has changed since their run at 5th Avenue.
I’ll be there Monday night and I’m pretty excited for this one.

Was at the invited dress and have many thoughts but thought the show was super fun and charming with its heart firmly on its sleeve. I also think it successfully avoids the problems that plagued Tootsie as far as morals go. Rob McClure is a lock for the Tony.

Rob looks like my Abuela, and not in a flattering way. Mrs Doubtfire gives me the spooks a bit.
I think he looks great - does the mask/makeup look this polished in the actual show?

I think he looks horrifying, but that only makes me want to see it live even more.
(and I haven't watched the movie in years, but if my memory serves correctly, Mr. William's wasn't exactly a sight for sore eyes either, so I'd call this makeover accurate to the source material)

I also think he looks terrifying. Maybe because Robin Williams’ portrayal is so engrained in my mind. I don’t know. Regardless, I Rob McClure is so incredibly talented and I can’t wait to see this!

Gone in less than a second it seems. I hate these online rushes.

I hate them as well. There is absolutely no accounting for how many lottery seats are awarded but then unclaimed. They allow people who have no intention of seeing the show to sign up and possibly win, taking the tickets away from those who do. I remember when they first started online lotteries, there was a member or two here who openly admitted to signing up and winning the lottery seats, but then decided after winning they didn't want to come into the city after all.

No, that photo looks like it has had some touch ups done. During the show the mask gets whipped on & off so often there is no way it would look so polished.

Just FYI this is online rush not lottery so it’s whoever has the fastest connection and you have to pay for the seats when you get them and there’s no prior entry period, but otherwise other people can still buy them if you release the seats or run up against the time limit (which is generally around 2 minutes I think). So unless someone pays for them and doesn’t show up then all the tickets should be going to actual people coming to see the show. But what you mentioned is definitely an issue with other online lotteries (though I think todaytix will generally continue to draw winners if the first ones don’t end up purchasing them).
Yeah, it's whomever is the fastest which is not great. But, most people who buy the tickets will be seeing the show, but Im sure there is a cancellation line for people who don't show. My friend got a ticket for this rush because she bought them within 15 seconds of them going on sale. Crazy times we live in. I miss theater rushes where you actually show up, but I'm sure none of the theaters do!
