I'm BEYOND elated to know that the show is coming back with most of the original cast in place. Caissie Levy is replacing Karen Olivo. This was one of my favorite things that I saw last year and highly recommend it. Hopefully the space still works as well in the new theatre. MURDER BALLAD Returns

I'm curious to see how this affects the release of the cast recording. Not sure if they'll be less inclined to release it since the show is sung through. Also if Olivo being replaced matters.

Why would this engagement have anything other than a positive effect on the release of the OCR? It's been announced and recorded. I don't think yellow sound has a problem like Jay records where albums are recorded and then put on ice for years.
For those of you that have seen this--Do you remember the running time on the show? I am noticing a 5pm on show on Saturdays and wondering if there would be time to get from there back to Time Square for an 8pm curtain?
In an article when it was first announced that this would be returning, they mentioned they had not yet released the recording because they were waiting to have it coincide with the remount. My guess is that the cast recording will be released in May and available at the theatre when the show opens.
Yes, the show was very short – I think you would have plenty of time to make an 8:00 curtain (and even grab a bite to eat in between!)
I encourage anyone who didn’t see this to go – it was really a unique experience. Olivo was the stand-out for me, but the whole cast was great. Wish I was able to see this with Caissie, if only to see what a different quality she brings to the role (if it extends a few more weeks, I would be able to catch it!).
But, they seem to be setting it up as more of a "Club" or Cabaret setting with Table rounds in the center and regular seating around it. Definitely not the seating shown on BroadwayBox site.
If they went to Broadway---Circle in the Square might be a Good Fit.
Didn't Levy also replace Olivo when HAIR transferred to Broadway the Delacorte run? Sounds like she's gotten two great roles out of it, good for her. GHOST was a disaster but I thought she was wonderful in HAIR. How I wish I'd have been able to see Olivo in this though, she's one of my favorites.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
If it’s set up (and blocked) similarly to the original run (and since they are including the tables, it sounds like it will be), I sat at one of the tables and really loved it. The playing space is where the tables are (a bar lines one of the sides, a pool table another, and a stage the other) - at least this is how it was set up originally. The actors are all over the tables and up close and personal – but, don’t worry, they don’t engage with you (in fact, my girlfriend, who I went with, literally had to back up at one point because the actors truly pretended like you weren’t there and Olivo was about to be sitting on my girlfriend), so those who are worried about the actors breaking that 4th wall – have no fear!

Well, technically Levy replaced Caren-Lyn Manuel, who did the full production in the park in summer 2008. Olivo did the weekend concert in September 2007, but was already in IN THE HEIGHTS on Broadway when HAIR got its full production in the park.
I missed this at City Center, so I'm glad to see it's coming back with most of the original cast.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

Any idea who the understudies are? It's being produced by the people who own 54 Below. You'd think they'd just let it play 54 Below. Same basic set up.
AC, thanks for the correction, I didn't think I had that right. I just remember Olivo playing Sheila at some point.
