In COLORED LIGHTS, Kander and Ebb talked about how Harold Prince got all pissy when he saw CHICAGO because he thought it was a direct rip of CABARET. Similarities here. At least Prince didn't have the audacity to threaten a lawsuit...jokingly or otherwise.

It might help to read the entire Facebook (not Facebox) thread.

I'm not his FB friend, so I'm not sure if he's public or enabled to friends of friends, but I can see it just fine. It makes more sense when you read the replies as well as his replies to them...

And of course, I've always considered the delicious Hairspray finale number to be a direct descendent, spiritually-speaking, of Sandra Bernhard's "Do You Wanna Funk?" segment of "Without You, I'm Nothing."
