Mario is soo pretty.
Yeah, I would definitely say it's stunt casting. I bet if we wasn't a "celebrity" who might bring in more audience members and so more money..he wouldn't get the role.
He IS cute, but will he be better in the role, than the current actor playing ??? That's what I'd like to know, please !
Well there's nothing, I think, to prove that he will be, but he isn't talent-less and you never know.
And I never will, since I'll see the show the day before !
I wonder if Michael Bennett is rolling over in his grave.
He's so hot. I don't care what he plays on Broadway. I would volunteer to clean his dressing room.

At least they didn't try to stunt cast one of the others. At least Zach is supposed to be a more "famous" persona.
That said, he looks a bit too young to have been involved with Charlotte.
But, the Bennett Estate must be ok with it, don't they get the option to say "no" to any and all casting?

Didn't he have some dance experience prior to Dancing With The Stars? I think I vaguely remember him even doing a little bit of dancing on Saved By The Bell?

Good point, Huskcharmer. I could picture them now "stunt casting" the part of Zach for the remainder of its run. If it helps this great show run longer, I'm all for it.
When I was growing up, I had a poster of AC Slater on my wall that I used to kiss before going to bed every night.
And for that reason... the little girl inside of me is jumping up and down with excitement.
I didn't know A CHORUS LINE was about Cassie, a 40-something year old dancer having an affair with a young has-been. Maybe THIS is what the movie should be like, STEP UP 3: THE AGE GAP.

And right after he joins he's missing almost a month's performances? He he, awesome.
Has Berrese left for good?
Has Berrese left for good?
Isn't he leaving on the 13th?
Is Lisa Rhinna gonna play Cassie? Bring Scary Spice for Richie and Nicole Ritchie for Bebe.
Will Charlotte still be with the show then?

March or April?
I'm surprised Baayork Lee approved this.

I'm confused how this helps tickets. Is his voice going to sell tickets? In fact, I imagine those who would really be so excited by his Broadway debut to buy tickets - and I'm not sure how large the Mario Lopez contingent is - would be very disappointed to find they won't get to see him on the stage for almost the entire show.
This is some pretty strange stunt-casting.
I guess Splash could not fit him into its gogo boy lineup. . .
When the rumors were floating around about this awhile back. I had heard that Baayork Lee said that she would only cast someone in the show who can do the Bennett choreography. Even though Zack doesn't have a lot of face time in the show he apperently can do the dancing in the show. Otherwise, he wouldn't have gotten cast. Still I am skeptic of this choice. But, then again that is just me.
Well, has anyone seen the show recently? How bad/good is it? Objective opinions, please.
Blaxx, I saw A Chorus Line at the end of January for the 3rd time and the show was in excellent shape. I also took a friend of mine for his birthday, which happened to be his first Broadway show, and he loved it.
Then boo for Mario Lopez! was there ever stunt casting in the original?
