Casting a professional actor with little to no dance or voice training on Broadway is stunt casting.
I watched the season of
Dancing With the Stars he participated in and thought he was quite good. But ballroom dance is not analogous to Michael Bennett's choreography. Especially eight times a week.
What I'm wondering is if they're going to start promoting the show as "A CHORUS LINE starring Mario Lopez". The Bennett estate would probably flip.
