Very rarely do we get to see a triple post!
HAHA
Regardless of what has been posted on Playbill, casting choices have been made. I am privy to some of the details, and will say that some of the posts on this thread are correct while otheres are ridiculous. But that is all. I see nothing wrong though with talking about it though (although because of confidentiality I can't really reveal anything concrete)

Posted: 1/22/07 at 12:31pmI heard that Constantine Maroulis was being considered for the Prince Eric role as recently as last week. Four callbacks.

Posted: 1/22/07 at 2:02pmYuck. I could see Constantine playing Scuttle, but not Prince Eric! A REAL Broadway singer/actor has to play Eric, I'm still hoping for Matthew Morrison, though it will probably never happen.

Yes, Constantine will be in Jacques Brel which begins previews on March 5.
mermaggie, not sure what you consider a "REAL Broadway singer" but Constantine was a musical theatre actor long before AI, if that's what you mean. I'm not a big fan of his but I've seen him in several different venues and he does have talent.

"Yes, Constantine will be in Jacques Brel which begins previews on March 5. "
It may have previewed on March 5, 2006. Constantine's run started Jan. 9, 2007 for six weeks.
And if you see him in this, you'll be convinced he's a REAL B'way actor/singer.
Although, perhaps not right for Eric.

Posted: 1/23/07 at 1:01pmI want to be the crab. I feel I deserve this role. After all, I have been known to burn to a crisp on the beach and can maintain a steady lobster red color throughout the run and I am as crabby as they come.

I just saw Jacques Brel. Amazing cast. All of them.
Constantine was terrific. The way his voice blends with Robert Cuccioli really works well. It looks they they are having a good time working together, too.
I agree Constantine might not be the perfect Disney type for Prince Eric. It was disappointing he did not get it, though.

A young friend of mine, Cody Hanford, who I have done about five shows with, has recently been cast as Flounder for the Broadway production. Cody and his family have been great friends to me for about 3 years. He is a fantastic performer. He moves very well, and vocally, his voice is just at that talented yet still cute stage.
Great casting!

As much as you don't like it, Sierra Boggess has been cast as Ariel, so you might as well quit holding out hope for Kerry Butler. If Sierra wasn't cast in the role, I doubt her friends and family would be publicly congratulating her on her MySpace for landing the part.
