Feels a little insane to put out Merch for a project literally nobody has even laid eyes on...

This feels unprecedented to me, but I'm not sure. Very "cart before the horse."
The Santa Clara t shirt is actually cool. But I’m not sure why the small lost boys logo is not on the outside on the back of the shirt in the same place. But it’s not worth 98.00 buck with postage
So curious how big of a show this is.

It's at the Palace Theatre so it'll be big in probably every way. Also big capitalization.

Michael Arden is a terrific director, but the two songs I've heard from this make it hard to hope. Repetitive like pop songs and no characterization.

I'm wondering who's the target audience for this. Millennials, even older ones are largely not aware of this movie. It's not known to gen Z at all. Gen X surely all saw it but will they show up for a musical?
The Lost Boys never had any remakes and even by 80s standards didn't age well. Hard to find a film with so much concentration of horrible acting and awful writing than this one. I'm puzzled with the choice of a vampire movie to base a musical on. But what do I know. Maybe it'll surprise us all, just like Death Becomes Her.

Budget is climbing. Arden is brilliant but his shows end up costing way more than the material merits. Hopefully this one is different. From the workshop it doesn't seem to add up. No out of town and massive stunts and set pieces. Same problem he is having n QofV.

The Lost Men.
Guess Broadway never learned about vampire musicals.

I do like the tag” We’re Inviting You In”
I manifested a part of this casting without hiring an Etsy witch.

If Ragtime extends by like 4-6 weeks, couldn’t she do both? I’m curious how big of an extension it would be.
ALI LOUIS BOURZGUI!!!!
ALSO Damn! Good for Levy!
I’m now wondering who else opened two musical productions as a lead in the same season. The last one I know who did was Christian Borle in 16-17 - Falsettos and Charlie/Chocolate Factory.

There's probably multiple others but the other main one coming to my mind is Jeremy Jordan who opened Bonnie & Clyde and Newsies in the same 2011-2012 season.
I find it so interesting that she might be up against herself for the Tony, but that depends on how good she in Lost Boys. I don't know if she'll get a nom for Ragtime though because that really depends on the competition this season...

Ragtime isn’t eligible for Tony nom  apparently, but if it was, it would be a different category (Best Musical and Best Musical Revival)

What? What rule prevents RAGTIME from getting Tony nominations?

My apologies - I was incorrect - it is eligible.

Looks like this will win some technical awards. Outside of that, is this Stranger Things 2: The Lost Boys?
I can’t picture Ali as David but to each their own

Too big and expensive.  Already pushing into 30 mil with only workshops . It’s has to succeed BIG and run for a loooong time.  There is aerial stuff and his usual set designer is doing set and video design $$$$. A reason MHE will likely not recoup
I'm still thinking the "vampire musicals are universally rejected from day one" consensus may shift. Remember, the last time we had a series of vampire shows, that was before Twilight, before Interview with the Vampire, before the whole girls-and-gays cultural moment that vampires have.
