In the video blogs http://hairspray.lastminuteliving.com/ Ball has the same idea about Edna that Travolta had- that it is more interesting as an actor to play her as a real woman. (not saying that the men who have played her before did not play her as a real woman.) But may be Ball will play Edna even softer than that.

Oh- forget the stupid link I posted earlier- the main link has added way more pics with the whole T-family.

I was just listening to a short interview with Michael on bbc radio4 he was asked had he seen Travolta play Edna in the film he said yes he had and it was interesting how John Travolta had made Edna small, timid and kind of understated then he laughed and said

"but I don't think I'm going down that route" lol!!!

I wish our OBC had such great pictures taken. But I don't think digital cameras were even used much then.

I'm a long-time Michael Ball fan, and I would NEVER have recognized him dressed up as "Edna" if I had not been told it was him. I would not have recognized him this way even if we were in the same room together. Absolutely amazing! I am thrilled for him and know he will do an outstanding job.

Wish I could be there to see him and am looking forward to all the reviews!

Not always Kec. I tried to purchase a copy of the 1995 Blood Brothers LCR fro Amazon and Amazon UK and was told that the item does not ship to the U.S. I ended up purchasing the item elsewhere.

According to one source, a number of Ball fans who bought preview tickets to see a new West End production of the Broadway hit Hairspray have asked for refunds after failing to spot him.

This was denied yesterday by producer Adam Spiegel, the son of the late Sam Spiegel who produced films such as The Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia.

But he admitted several members of the audience had complained about Ball's apparent absence from the show, which has its opening night at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London tomorrow.

"We have had a dozen complaints to the box office staff at the intervals during the previews," said Mr Spiegel.

"We have to assure them that they are mistaken. Michael is extremely flattered that his disguise is so good. He does make an extremely impressive woman."
