Miss Saigon Dates and Cast?

Jordan spoke in a recent interview about renting an apartment in Vancouver, which led me to believe that he'd have a substantial role in the new season. I suppose that remains to be seen, but I wouldn't assume that he'll be on Broadway anytime soon. I could be wrong.

OK so now we're just naming random white actors and calling them a justification and a possibility? OK cool. James Corden.

Nathan Lane would be a great Chris and he could totally do Angels in America in London and Miss Saigon at the same time.

All goofing aside -- for those questioning why someone like Tveit or Jordan would want to do it --I do think Chris is a very good role. Perhaps a better role than many of the actors who have played it. Wily Falk was nominated for a Tony for playing it.
I'd think there is also the dangling carrot of possibly being considered for the film. As it is -- if this movie is made anytime in the next few years -- Tveit / Jordan are probably only a handful of tv/film actors who could actually sing it.

I'm guessing the Chris who closed the show in London and is American will just transfer with the show.

His name happens to be Chris. Chris Peluso. And I hope not. We can do better than that.

For the movie I think that Chris will be played by an established movie star like Chris Pine.
If like the les Mis movie the cast will have a range of star power levels. Sadly there isn't many a-list Asian actors who could be Kim or the engineer. So those will likely go to theater actors/ unknowns Chris would be as easy option for their Hugh Jackman level draw for balance.

I just hope they don't reach into the Les Mis revival pool for Chris. I do *not* want someone twinky like Chris McCarrell or Andy M playing Chris. I fear thats what we're getting.

I don't think Andy Mientus would be right for Chris in a community theatre production. I understand - in theory why you might want a slim and boyish Marius but Chris has to believable as a man approaching 30 by the end of the show.
At any rate, you can bet they know who will be playing the role as it wouldn't make sense to cast Ellen until you have Chris.

I agree that Andy Mientus is not right for this. If it was someone from the Les Mis cast why the delay in announcing it? I am holding out hope it will be someone exciting. Tveit. Jordan. Cott.

Not sure on what planet Corey Cott is an exciting Chris but OK.

Because I like him. My opinion. You can disagree.

It's also possible they want to bring over Allistair Brammer and they are waiting for AEA to clear him.

Nobody has been better in the role than Alistair Brammer. He'd be my first choice for this production. But I'd settle for Aaron Tveit.

I guess its my middle aged fantasy but I always rather thought Chris should be played by a total hearthrob, but that's not usually how they have cast the role. Neither Wily Falk or Simon Bowman who created the role originally nor Allistair Brammer were terribly attractive to me. I guess they think Chris is more of an 'every man" but I'd rather have beef cake.

Tveit may have had to wait for permission from braindead before taking other work. The Kings announced that they where show runners of the good wife spin off a month ago. Assuming that braindead is cancelled then Tveit may have started contract negotiations from about then.

I was not impressed with Alistair Brammer on the recording from London. Like...at all...

Oh there have been some very sexy hot men to play the role, no doubt. But for some reason when they are creating a new company -- they don't seem to go that route.

Nick Motherfvckin' Christopher! Way to go! He's so talented, so I hope this is his breakout role. He and Devin Ilaw have me excited.
Katie Rose Clark is an incredibly safe choice. She's a fairly recognized name in theater who, as we've seen in her countless stints with Wicked, works hard and can step up at a moment's notice.

Maybe for the Broadway production, they'll be able to figure out the microphone/costume issues that forced them to cut Chris's brief bare-bottom moment in the London version of the revival.

I don't know if it makes a huge difference, but unfortunately it was just announced that Brain Dead was cancelled by CBS...

And using the same intriguing ellipses convention for the same reason, here's Broadway.com's post about it:

If Aaron Tveit is cast as Chris, the Broadway Theatre might literally explode from fangirl overload. I think he's a great talent but some of his fans are a little...over-enthusiastic.
