So BrainDead is officially cancelled.... Hmm could this be another hint that Aaron Tveit may be Chris
It's like a damn echo chamber in here. Has anyone heard yet that BrainDead is canceled?

Alistair Brammer will be playing Chris
Damn, this have been a good day for Broadway!

I'm sure he's good, but that's disappointing.
I'd make a crack about a Brit playing a very American role, but I guess that's not a very good argument.
I had a fleeting suspicion this might be in the works (and posted about it last week). I thought he was very good in the cinecast, but it does seem a bit unnecessary to bring him over; certainly there are plenty of actors in the states more than up to the task.
Well, you got Americans play all very Russian roles in Fiddle on the Roof, Americans and British playing very French roles in Les Liaisons Dangereuses...

They specifically asked him whether he would come over in the interview about his reaction to the screening. So, no surprise for me.
I'm sure he's great...but there are so many other actors I'd love to see play this part.

Well yes because these productions are playing on Broadway in New York City in the United States. And the labor union for American stage actors typically demands most roles be cast with American actors; the exceptions being if the actor is a "star" or "uniquely qualified" or is part of a "trade" in which an American actor is allowed to go work in the country the imported actor is from (usually the UK).
"
Well that's probably the biggest casting disappointment in a while. We all thought is would be Tveit or Jordan, or you know...someone American. What's the purpose of this is and why is Equity allowing it?

So they can keep casting American Elders in BoM London?

So much talent here to choose from. No offense to him, but hopefully he doesn't stay too long.

It's typical Cameron mackintosh lazy casting. Just use people who've done it before.
you are right to be underwhelmed. You have WAY more talent in NYC that could have played this role better. He was dreadful. His vibrato was like a drill in my head.
Every time I see him I'm like, "Damnnnnn Daddddyyyy".. lol
I guess you can count me in for I was little underwhelmed as well. Alistair wasn't a bad Chris in London but it would've been interesting if someone else played him for the Broadway run.
I never really thought it would anyone else but Chris Peluso, the American in their final cast. So this was a bit of a curveball. But I'm fine with it, he was good in the cinemacast.
Also, woof.

So disappointed that Alistair is going to Bway with it. Every time I'm seen him (especially as Marius but equally so as Chris) he has sounded like my grandmother's impression of late-in-life Katherine Hepburn.

His singing is difficult to sit through.
But his acting was incredible. The meltdown scene was incredibly done, and I've seen thee other Chris's in this version do it and no one came as close.
Couldn't even make it through the cast recording. His voice is terrible and all wrong for this part. Hard pass on this whole show.
Apart from the first 10mins of pimple-watching in the film version, I thought he was very convincing as Chris-acting and singing, and as someone said above-that meltdown at the end was just heartbreaking.[I would like to have seen the curtain calls].
Maybe he has a 6mth contract then it's time for an American Chris[I've seen a Thai Chris so prepared to accept anyone play Chris now]-certainly can't see him doing a US tour.
