Wow... thats was pretty bad. I LOVED next to normal when I saw it last weekend, but they all, with the exception of Jessica Phillips, showed they didn't fit the characters well. Attack me if you wish, but they all seemed and sounded so deadpan-again, Jessica Phillips aside. I know not to judge a performance from a video, but they seemed to be portraying caricatures more than actual members of a family.

I kinda liked Michael Berry better than J. Robert Spencer.

Thanks, the only problem is I just saw it on Saturday... I wanna try to get to some new shows in before I repeat again.

Having seen Jessica Phillips go on for Diana, I can assure you that she is much better in the actually show (and looks a lot older).

...Meghann has too many 'n's in her name. She couldn't have excised one of those for her big Broadway debut? If she doesn't want the extraneous N to get lonely she could have even removed the unnecessary H to keep it company.
(Maybe I'm just nitpicking the N because I don't want to say the same thing as most everyone else and feel bad for hating on a bunch of probably-talented people performing out of context. But, seriously, I don't really want to see any of them.) Updated On: 4/27/09 at 04:22 PM
I think Meghann is beautiful and a natural talent who hasn't had the opportunity to grow in that role yet. Keep in mind, Jenn was not giving the same performance last year as she is right now. She has grown remarkably. All these roles are so multi-faceted and I feel like so many of those intricate choices that make them so raw and honest can only be discovered over time.
I actually really like Meghann, she sounds great in the Superboy video. I think she'd be a great replacement for Jenn. Tim Young has a really nice voice, but I see him more as Henry than Gabe (if either). Jessia Phillips, as others have said, seems too over the top, but I wouldn't mind seeing her in the role. Michael Berry....uh...is the weakest of the bunch. I'll leave it at that.
best part of this thread is that it lead me to Jay Johnson singing "Where Do I Go" so thanks for that! lol they weren't HORRIBLE but I'd much rather prefer to see the show without understudies.

I have to agree with (mostly) everyone else in disliking it. It seems like a high school event or something, definitely nowhere near Broadway-level. I watched the other numbers too and weren?t AS bad, but Just Another Day was just a mess.
I think part of the problem was the accompaniment/arrangements. Superboy and I'm Alive were NOT meant for just a piano...and the accompanist himself isn't the best.
