I mean, she just looks so happy that she can finally get in the pool, you know??
Even though the show is now over, think we can get this thread to a million views?!
Someone had the idea to do season 3 using gifs. That would bump it up.
Did anybody really not know that Bombshell would win Best Musical?
It HAD to win. What would the orchestra have played if Hit List had won? Heck... the orchestra didn't even have sheet music for the featured number performed during the Tony telecast.
But they did have all the correct lighting cues, so that was lucky.
I also liked that in SMASH-Land, on the night of the Tony's, EVITA, FOLLIES & The Tony Awards were all at the Marquis Theatre. Those are some busy stagehands that night.

Okay. How endearingly horrible was that "Under Pressure" number at the beginning of the second hour. I cringed and almost crawled under my chair. Then I decided to just sit back and enjoy the campy awfulness of it and I was fine. Even happy. That is what I will take away from SMASH. That number represents all that SMASH wanted to be and what it actually was. I sometimes hated this show so much, but I'm finding myself a little misty that its over..
And the Bonnie and Clyde marquee was up. Which is ironic because you know, Jeremy Jordan. And way back when during the pilot episode, WONDERLAND was still at the Marquis!!!! And during one episode of the first season, there's a scene with Megan and you can see them cleaning out Bonnie and Clyde in the background. Meaning they just dug up old footage and as usual, didn't give a crap about what they were doing.
So weird that after all the tsuris, they never announced Best Director.

Best Actor was not germane to the plot, it seems. I liked the ending, hokey as it was, with everything tied up in a neat little ribbon (blue or pink? we'll never know). So glad no Tony for Karen or Best Musical for HIT LIST. I know it's fictional, but I was happy to see Megan Hilty's Ivy accept her award. A precursor to reality, perhaps...?
Too bad Ovation or some other cable network isn't picking up the series.

Let's all take a moment and laugh our asses off that the only people who won n-o-t-h-i-n-g are Karen and Jimmy.
I'd like to know what Sutton Foster did to Laura Osnes? Wasn't Laura listed as being a possible nominee for Oliver just few episodes ago? Did Sutton have her erased? lol
^ Laura got Fostered... just like Erin Dilly.
Just another notch on Sutton's belt. Sad.

There are so many "this half-full glass is empty" bitches on this thread, I don't know why I'm surprised. I thought both hours were great. I LOVED "Under Pressure." I used to hate every single one of the non-Broadway cover songs on SMASH until Miss Ivy Lynn's terrific "Bittersweet Symphony" many weeks ago and have liked most of them since because they weren't the sort of stupid country karaoke numbers that they foisted on us last season.
I LOVED "The Big Finish" and can just imagine Safran's frantic call to Marc and Scott: "Can you help me FIX this?" I even, god help me, enjoyed Katherine McPhee and Cousin Debbie this week.

I wonder whether Smash's Powers That Be switched out Sutton for Laura for some reason (why???) or if someone just blew the continuity.
According to Jeremy Jordan: Sutton was a female Fagin
In all seriousness I have to admit being incredibly touched by Derek's speech and his pronouncement of love. For a character that was set up to be so gruff it was so endearing. And then she had to perform. Great moment

I kinda wish Ivy had thanked Karen but she went off on a kind of Alice Ripley thing there about the magic of theater.

For a fake awards show those were some pretty classy presenters. Especially Marin!

How messed up is the management of the Village Voice that they dismissed Michael Musto so that for the first time in 29 years it was actually impossible for him to publish the snatchy things Karen and Jimmy said about Ivy playing Marilyn?

was anyone else aware that the show was very loosely based on a book of the same name?
SMASH is Based On A Book?

Putting my tendency for cynicism aside, I actually felt very fulfilled with the ending. Ivy and Bombshell winning were definite nods from the creative team to the audience that they were in fact kind of almost somewhat listening to us. The only thing that really bothered me was the fact that after we watched Ivy try to tell Derek she's pregnant like 4 times throughout the episode, we didn't get to see their conversation in the end. Oh well, other than that, it was SMASH being SMASH and I will miss it so.
