JCM only has a cult following from the original off-broadway production, recording and film...other than that nobody knows who he is unfortunately but HE IS HEDWIG and personally can't wait for the experience! That's the question...will a new Hedwig come in after or will it close with JCM?
"Anything you do, let it it come from you--then it will be new."

There are so few people that can do it after JCM without seeming like a bad drag act. The double-edged sword of JCM is that you see what the role actually is with such clarity, the person after him will be difficult to measure up.
Will never happen, especially since they'll probably go back to TV/film star names after JCM, but after hearing this, I really would kill to see Norbert Leo Butz take a crack at Hedwig: Wig in a Box
Haterobics, that's exactly what I was just thinking and ready to post. Whomever has to follow JCM could only pale in comparison. OF course, the tourist trade only seeing the show for the first time, would probably like some other singer who can dance.
It has been so long without seeing JCM perform the role, I had convinced myself I had perhaps built him up to be so much more than he really was, and thought that I was unfairly judging NPH, AR, and MCH against some unrealistic ideal I had invented over the years.
Then, I saw JCM this week, and was like, oh, it was everything I remembered and more.
Honestly, I think the best thing to do after JCM is to bring NPH for an encore run to close it out. Isn't he free until his variety show in the fall?
That said, I will consider my ticket to JCM's last show as the actual end of the run.
I get why they are doing it, but it seems weird to me to bring JCM in as a filler of sorts till they get a name in the show. I mean- this is his show and i was hoping he would come in to close the show to bring it full circle.
Well the rumor seems to be that someone else is coming in- those are just rumors, but you never know, especially considered JCM had stated many times he would not step back into the role- and did.
