^ If they don't officially record it,i am pretty certain it will get recorded by other means- since all three revival Hedwigs have been filmed in HD via bootleg
I've heard Jared Letos name floated recently, he can sing and has some major acting credibility now with the oscar win behind him (and hell the part he played in Dallas Buyers Club was pretty similar to Hedwig in a sense) --- Jared would be fabulous but has booked tour dates with his band 30 seconds to Mars

Anyone have any rumors? Or know when they will announce? I'm assuming it should be soon enough, as JCM is only 8 weeks (if he doesn't extend, but in an interview he said he had a film to shoot so i don't know if he could extend).
Has anyone heard Darren Criss' name being thrown around? I think it was Stephen Trask that said in an interview he would be great. With Glee ending, he would be free.
As much as it pains me to say it, it doesn't look like JCM is going to extend due to ticket sales, so it would only be to keep the show up until someone else was able to pop in... or it closes.

---I haven't and vocally feel it will kill his small voice and basically don't see him as Hedwig.

As fabulous as Jared Leto would be, it's not going to happen. He has tour dates booked through early April and Suicide Squad is scheduled to start filming in Toronto in April. Plus I doubt he would play two trans characters in a row.
it doesn't seem like JCM is selling well, so I wonder if any kind of extension the producers were think might getting axed. I still hope the show stays open through the spring & summer.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Yeah, so far I believe all four of his Friday/Saturday shows ended up on TKTS, so I don't think he'll extend unless due to scheduling they need an extra week or two to get the next Hedwig in there. Or, it closes in 7 weeks.
I can't believe they were naive enough to think that JCM could fill the house every night like the TV actors would. They had to know there would be a significant drop off. His crowd is loyal and knows the show and (correctly) worships him in the role, but he was never going to draw a lot of tourists. Don't most shows drop off in January/February? I thought I read somewhere that was another reason he was stepping in now, because these are usually slow months anyway.
I'm so here for the Jonathan Groff suggestion. Yes, he would be great (if a little young) in the role, but on a completely shallow level, how great would he look in those shorts at the end?
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
Jonathan Groff and Darren Criss are not good choices for this revival. They are too young. And Criss couldn't even handle How to Suceed. There is no way he would be anything but mediocre in Hedwig,
Darren Criss is not only too young, but he couldn't even make it through How To Succeed without screeching, how can he pull off a 2 hour rock concert? No thank you.
