Justin Timberlake would be really really really good. He can obviously sing, he is kind of slight of frame and girlish, and he is very funny.
Unfortunately he would cost a million bucks and tickets would be $500.

Has nobody in this thread mentioned yet that NYC NEEDS Jerick Hoffer to it?!
LightsOut90 - How do you know that about Cabaret?
Whatshisname - A.maz.ing. I didn't even think of that. Could be great.
This replacement is being very well kept under wraps. Normally, by now, I feel like someone on here would have at least an inkling. But we're all clueless! Very exciting.
Phillypinto, Cabaret is not closing cause Alan doesn't want to do it, if he didn't want to do it but Roundabout wanted to keep it open they would replace him.
But I agree Alan needs to do this!

Someone on this board previously alluded to knowing, or at least having heard credible rumors, who would be the next Hedwig.
^ That happens all the time- people claiming or hinting they know, but not giving anything up. Which then makes me wonder "why are you telling us you know who it is but not tell us? just to brag i guess.".

My vote is Jesse Tyler Ferguson, not least because it would stick to the theme of gay guys with three names playing Hedwig, NPH, ASR, JCM, ETC
You forgot MCH! And for the record - I wouldn't exactly say that Andrew Rannells goes by ASR, despite his middle name being Scott.

Allegedly. I always say "allegedly straight" about everybody who has never come out.
If they went with my suggestion, they could advertise it as:
J. "Cameron's Mitchell" IS Hedwig
"Phillypinto, Cabaret is not closing cause Alan doesn't want to do it, if he didn't want to do it but Roundabout wanted to keep it open they would replace him."
oh really, ethan231h and Lightsout90.
"Mr. Haimes said the show will close in March because no one wants to fill Mr. Cumming’s boots. 'He has become so famous and iconic in the role that nobody of stature wants to take it on, and we did not want to descend into schlock casting, so we decided we’d close on top,' he said."
End of Article
'J. "Cameron's Mitchell" IS Hedwig'
I read that originally as 'J. Smith Cameron IS Hedwig' and I became unreasonably giddy.

J. "Cameron's Mitchell" IS Hedwig
I'm lucky I'm just about the only person at my job who has to work today, because - after taking a second to get it - this made me dissolve into giggles.
I wonder if JCM was named after Cameron Mitchell.

@Philly
its something called "spin" roundabout was banking on running it for years, Rob and Sam got tired of coming in every 3 months to rehearse a new Sally and ultimately didn't feel comfortable leaving the show in an assistant directors hands so they pulled the rights.

I just read the same info from the same link, and now notice it's gone too. Interesting....
Darren Criss?
It seemed like a very legit press release. I'm guessing they just published before they were supposed to be allowed to
Why the hate? I saw him in concert a year or so ago and he's amazing live. A bit too young for the role, but otherwise I'm loving this.
I think I'm done with HEDWIG after I see JCM's last show. I've seen some quality Hedwigs, but I think now is when they are going to devolve into ill-fit stunt casting.
Criss is just too young to do this role justice.

Darren Criss is a horrible choice. I assume TheaterMania jumped the embargo and then realized it, pulling their article down.
