Your best bet is probably waiting to see if she posts scheduled dates on social media because the box office can’t tell you a day in advance who will or won’t be performing with certainty.

The box office will not be able to inform you of when a specific understudy or standby is performing-unless there’s a sign for it, like there was for Audra in Shuffle Along. Otherwise, as the previous response states, you have to keep an eye on their social media channels. Or someone involved in the show-they might mention it. There’s also BwayUnderstudies which sometimes the day of days who will be on/covering a role that day, or week even. But don’t rely on the box office for that type of announcement. Also, things could change. I remember Jennifer Nettles was announced to be out of Waitress on specific dates but then we found out she would actually be performing those dates and her days off changed. So I changed my tickets to see the understudies. Just keep an eye out is all I can say.

I'll have to get a ticket! I saw Judy Kaye as Morrible in 2016 and thought she was magnificent.

Ginna Claire Mason will not be performing this week after all. She played her final show on Jan 22nd, and Allie Trimm will be covering for the rest of the week!

I have no idea why, but I think I misread the post and thought it said the 28th would be her last performance! Thank you for the clarification!

It was edited so it might have been originally the 28th. By going from some of the comments it looks like it was.

I'd rather see Lisa Howard's Elphaba than Morrible!

I'm glad she is working and employed and all, I'm sure a Wicked paycheck is quite nice. But Lisa Howard seems wildly overqualified for Morrible. I'm sure she'll kill it, but it will be musical theatre blue balls to her that magnificent voice singing that speak-talk role.

I think the same of many of the Morribles: Mary Testa, Judy Kaye, Rue McClanahan, Michele Lee...just to name a few

Is anyone going to Brittney Johnson and Sharon Sachs’s first Broadway performance tonight in their full-time roles?

Love this. There’s so much good in her heart, and I’m so glad Brittney gets to tell G(a)linda’s story for thousands each week and hopefully inspire countless others.

It is indeed great to see her (and I am not being rhetorical).

I was there last night!  I saw Brittney's debut as Glinda in January 2019 and saw her as a standby as well during Ginna Claire's vacation and loved her.  She is glorious both vocally and as an actress - I remember thinking while watching her debut as an understudy that her Glinda was already shockingly fully formed - she has had the comedy and emotional curve of Glinda's journey through the show down since the beginning.  As time goes on she will get even better and I truly think she will be remembered as one of the greats in this role on top of her already history-making performance.  Also, she looks absolutely STUNNING in Glinda's outfits.

Lots of entrance applause for her as expected, but also some entrance applause for Jordan Barrow, Lindsay, and Sharon - and some applause when Brittney said  'I am Galinda Upland...of the Upper Uplands' - it kind of hit in that moment that a black woman was saying 'I am Galinda and this role is mine.'   Audience overall was really into her performance.

Sharon Sachs is a really fun Morrible, a bit calmer here than on tour but I only have positive things to say about her.  It's a really strong cast overall right now - Sam is amongst the best Fiyeros to ever play the role in my opinion and Lindsay keeps her take on Elphaba really really fresh and interesting - you never quite get the same performance twice.

“Lindsay keeps her take on Elphaba really really fresh and interesting - you never quite get the same performance twice.”

That’s being kind in regards to inconsistency. Looking forward to going back to the Gershwin when another green girl is announced!

She has been in on average about 6 out of 8 shows a week, is singing the role in what sounds like a healthy way (and markedly stronger than at the beginning of her run in 2020) and changes it up and avoids falling into a stale routine  So while it may fit the definition of 'inconsistent,' I'd say it's not a bad thing!  I am personally impressed at her resilience - an injury in early 2020, an injury that took her out for three months in 2021, then getting COVID - I think she's found her footing and is turning in a really great performance!  But everyone is certainly entitled to their tastes of what and who they like and don't like.

For a while pre-Covid, Elphaba's usually only did 7 performances a week, with Sundays being almost a guaranteed day for the standby. It was never advertised, I remember members of the board mentioning that.

Can anyone name a performer who played Elphaba who consistently turned up every single week, with the exception of maybe some scheduled vacations? It’s a HARD role. And when I saw the show, it was incredible all around. For god sakes if you haven’t even seen Lindsay how dare you judge her.

Jennifer DiNoia has been out before. That’s why they brought back…Alyssa Fox? I believe? a few..weeks ago? Because yes, she has been out before. Again, please do not judge Lindsay or the role that you have definitely not played.
