I have been waiting patiently for years for MK to be Broadway's Elphaba. I so hope this happens, though bummer GC is gone because they were golden together. However, I think the pressure is on production to cast POC and I don't see them not doing that as soon as possible which means MK, Talia, etc. likely won't get the next look."
totally agree MK and Ginna Claire were Golden together. My favorite pair so far!

Everyone mentioning MK and GC does realize GC wouldn’t be coming back, right? Just expressing enthusiasm for them as Elphie and Glinda together?

I don't think any of us that replied in favor of MK suggested GC was coming back. In fact I specifically said "bummer GC is gone". I would be absolutely thrillified to see MK with Brittney.

Her current standby .."
Jenny DiNoia is a work horse who has been flown all over the world to provide emergency cover for Elphaba. Not many are made like her. I don't understand why Elphaba is not a role that has a baked in Alternate schedule. I mean I haven't been actively involved in fandom of Wicked in many years, but it's always been a role that's caused vocal & stamina issues. It's not a show that is being sold on the names of their leads so putting them through 8 performances a week with such a demanding score is a little much. I mean when I was in my hey day I remember Wicked was just shuffling the same Elphabas all over the country because they could handle it while rarely bringing in new blood.
Jenny DiNoia's can't be around to save everyone's ass.

This hit the nail right on the head. It’s a role without an alternate for money and money alone. Jen DiNoia’s work ethic is absolutely not overstated here, but what I think is not being said that she was far overworked too in her coverage of the role. The quality of her performances varied wildly throughout the time she was covering. This is not a criticism of her in any way, just reiterating the point: the role is too much. For anyone to do successfully with complete consistency.
They really should have implemented alternates after what happened with Idina, Shoshana, and Eden. All three ended their relationships with the show with completely different voices than when they came in, and mostly from damage.

I truly hope Wicked takes the time to replace Lindsay with an actress of color. Particularly a black actress.
If talia joins the Broadway company I don’t think it will happen right after her tour contract. They might give her a period to rest before joining. At least that is what they did for Jessica Vosk."
Yes and I’m reiterating this until it happens. God knows Brittney Johnson is a blessing and she brought new life to the production. They’ve done some work.
We had a trans woman Morrible, we have a Filipina Elphaba and Nessarose on tour, the male roles have been colorblind for ages. We even have Cynthia Erivo in the film, and yes I’m thrilled she’s almost overqualified for the role (I would have preferred Emmy Raver-Lampman or Ariana Debose, but it’s not worries).
my point is we have never had a Black woman as the main Elphaba on Broadway and it’s overdue. I have hope it will happen, but we really need it especially with Brittney. Little girls need to know they can do anything.

Umm. Does anyone think it would be at all possible that Jessica Vosk would come back as Elpahba? If you’re on Twitter, check out her tweet….
“Look, you’ll have to wait til next week or I’ll be killed but…
…all I’m gonna say is I’ve been looking to reprise a role for quite some time… 🙃”
Could she be coming back??? I hope they go with someone new…
could

I thought Talia Suskauer took over the role of Elphaba in May. At least that’s what her Instagram says.

She did, we are currently discussing DiNoias replacement for the elphaba standby track.
I’ll continue to hope they cast an actress of color, particularly a black actress for elphaba.

For Elphaba, no, because Talia literally just started. But for her standby, I hope that’s where they’re going, and then maybe they’ll promote her whenever Talias contract is up. Like what they did with Brittney for Glinda.
Yes, I’m talking about the standby track.

Please tell us more about what “this” is, Hayley Ann
It is still shocking to me that Saycon was never promoted to principle Elphaba, especially with how much she went on in ‘05-‘06. Her performances were always very strong.
Jenny DiNoia is finished with wicked this weekend. Congrats on an incredible 16 year run!
She can always come back to the show later in life and play Morrible!
I wonder if she has another gig lined up; I would kill to see her play Mary Jane Healy role in the Jagged Little Pill tour.
Do we know who new standby is?

I believe Alyssa Fox is returning as the standby.
