Anthony Rapp is the absolute sweetest! He really, truly cares about his fans. He was an absolute doll when I met him, shaking my hand, taking a picture with me, chatting with me...made me fell I was the only person there.

He's a great guy.

Greg Jbara is deffinetly the nicest I have met. The guy is awesome!

As for the bitchiest, Joanna Gleason, by far. The woman barely ever seems to come out and sign for fans and when she does, she seems to be very non-responsive. Its a shame too because she is very talented.

I am talking about the way that the so called celebrities treat you at stage door or wherever you may run into them. So there really wasn't any need for you to be rude. Everyone has the right to post on these boards and to do so without someone else coming down on them. Your remark was just a tad ridiculous and very immature. And I will say it again out of all the celebs that I have ever met IN MY LIFE Michael was the nicest!!

I have RSD...but it doesn't have me!!!!

My one experience with Ms Gleason when I was visiting San Deigo and I was with... lets say... one of my more Queeney friends, and he shouted out "I love you Ms Gleason" (or something like that) and I almost burst out laughing with the scrowl replaced by the patronizing smile and 'warm thankyou' *short* that happened in the space of... 3 nanoseconds.

I admit she is a fabulous actress, but as a human being... well actually at least she is honest about who she is, props to her for that at least. Better then some of the people Garland Grrrl has aluded to.

I really don't think it's fair to say that just b/c she doesn't come out and can be nonresponsive is grounds to say Joanna is "bitchy." Some people aren't too comfortable around fans, and I think of bitchy as flat-out being mean, not unresponsive. I mean this debate has been up way too much but it's certainly not required of actors to come out of stage doors, and giving them the label of bitchy for not doing so is inappropriate.

i agree completely, wickedrentq. I have seen Joanna Gleason leaving the theater and she gave me a HUGE smile...she was clearly not going to stop, but she definitely didn't have to smile.

I kept this to myself of course as I didn't want some of the more overzealous fans to harrass her.

Honestly I think it's a personal choice. While of course I'm always going to appreciate the actors who do hang around the stagedoor, I understand why some would choose not to. I have met some fans at the stagedoor who scared ME, and I can only imagine how scared I would have been if I were the star they were freaking out over.

I have no idea if I already posted on this thread or not, and am too lazy to go through it and see...

The nicest Broadway star I've ever met is Manoel Felciano, hands down. Other really nice performers: Michael Cerveris, David Hyde Pierce (who's always charming, and gracious), Patti Lupone (seriously! She was a doll when I met her!), Donna Lynne Champlin, Eden Espinosa, Stephen Sondheim (I'm counting him!).

And not on Broadway, but in West End, the absolute NICEST most wonderful person I met was Sir Ian McKellen. He's a true gentleman. He's closely followed by Sir Derek Jacobi, Richard Coyle, and Vanessa Redgrave.

BroadwayChica, I'm jealous that you've met Sondheim. I've never actually met him, but when I was a naive high schooler I wrote to invite him to my school's production of "Into The Woods" and he wrote back an incredibly thoughtful and insightful PERSONAL letter about the show and acting.

It's something I will treasure always.

Yes, Ian McKellen is an amazing, amazing, person. SO gracious, sweet, charming. He took the time to talk to EVERYONE at the stage door (including a few wackos!). He waited till everyone had gotten autographs, pics, etc, then said: "Good evening!" with a polite bow, and got into his car.

And yeah, I feel lucky to have met Sondheim. He's a living legend, and yet has remained SO humble, and gracious. And he's always so great with his fans. I've heard of many stories like yours, where he actually takes the time to write back to his fans.

i wanted to go to see anthony rapp at his book signing this weekend but i'm in a production of "the vagina monologues" that conflicts.

I had occasion to meet her a few months ago, and she is truly one of the loveliest people I have ever met.

In addition, the entire cast of Broadway's Woman in White are extremely nice.

MEF, there won't be a "s*hit storm" due to the fact that anyone, and I mean anyone who's ever had a stage door experience with Orfeh knows that she's not only one of THE nicest and most gracious stars around, her *problem* is, she's too nice. And it's probably rendered most speechless to hear anything to the contrary, (lucky you MEF).

Actlete, I saw Trailer Park over a half dozen times in it's short run and her husband and the "Altar's" were there many of the times I was, so I have to call you out as a complete LIAR. Not only does she NOT care if they're "all over him", she's not even usually standing near him. So, if you felt the need to bash her just because you had nothing more intelligent to say, fine, but try to keep it from being a complete figment of your imagination.

All this being said, how a person behaves or doesn't at the stage door should have NO bearing on what you think of their talents as a performer. If you paid money to see them perform and all you care about is how they "perform" at the stage door after the fact, you've missed the whole point.

Again, this points out that dangerous element to the actors, that alot of fans suffer from, delusion that if you talk to someone at the stage door a few times, it means you're best friends, just isn't so.
