Let's start taking bets to see how long it will take for a Kickstarter for this production to appear.
I hate Ken Davenport...but this is amazing news!

Actually this sounds horrible to me, so let's hope the lack of dates & theater keep it away.
Where could it go at this point? So many shows trying to get in this season
I literally have no interest in this. Cynthia Erivo would be the only casting that could get me invested.
And buhbuhbilly, it sounds to me like they'd be aiming for the 2017-18 season.

Is she cool with waiting until the goal is reached to get paid?

Any project with KD attached as the lead producer will only lead to disaster, heartbreak, etc., etc. Sorry folks..

^ In addition, who are his investors? Every single show he has lead produced has been a flop. Don't mention Kinky Boots, he did not lead produce that. Who in their right mind will continue to give him money?

This is such an underrated show and score. I'm not sure this is the right time for a revival though.. And with Michael Arden at the helm?

^ Love this!
I would be excited about this, except that Ken Davenport is involved which can only mean sketchiness from beginning to end...starting with this announcement when they have no theater, no dates, and no cast or creative team other than a director and, apparently, an orchestrator.
I get the feeling he's hoping to attract attention and backers that currently don't exist by making an announcement like this.
While the Spring Awakening revival flopped last season, it was still beloved by many.
It worked well for that show. His direction for My Fair Lady not so much. Curious what he does with Merrily this fall.
I loved Spring Awakening.
But I am never paying to see another Ken Davenport-led production.
That's ridiculous! You should never decide what to see or not see based strictly on the producer alone.

That's a non-sequitur to my point. It flopped. Ken has a history of flops. No one in their right mind should give him money. Period.

And you should stop speaking for other people, or telling people what they should or should not do.
I don't think it's unreasonable to avoid giving money to scam artists.
"A musical exploration/reading will take place in December... A production timeline, casting, creative team and a Broadway theatre will be announced at a later date."
Translation - there's a much greater probability that this won't happen than that it will. Don't get too excited. And don't forget that this comes from Ken "Amateurism Is My Middle Name" Davenport.

Oh, I get it now! It's because of Davenport's mysterious kickstarter to get the cast of Spring Awakening to perform on the Tonys (though rumor has it that he was only using the kickstarter to cover up all the money they lost), that you're not willing to give him your money.

Okay but I hope this waits a year and we get Audra McDonald as Asaka or Erzulie.
"Musical exploration" is such a nice way to say "backer's audition."
