This just smells like an immediate flop. Especially without Spears' name attached.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
^ Do you ever have anything nice to say? I swear every time a new thread pops up about a new show here you come to rain on the parade.
I saw the show in DC and had an absolute blast and as a huge Britney fan, I'm excited for it. It definitely needed work in DC, but I'm hopeful they've been working on it through out the time between DC and Broadway.
"Anybody that goes to the theater, I think we’re all misfits, so we ended up on stage or in the audience.” --- Patti LuPone.
I hope Morgan Weed continues as the Princess and the Pea. I’ve been a huge fan of hers ever since she stole the show in First Wives Club when it played Chicago. She was hilarious in this, and I think she’s a vastly underrated performer.
I think this has so much potential. Great title and great catalogue. Just hope they up the production value as it looked so cheap in DC and will get swallowed up at the Marquis. It needs to be big, flashy, and fun.
I wonder if audiences will be burnt out with this and &Juliet playing to similar markets.
Is Britney signing off and/or making money on this? If not, marketing it as “Britney Spears musical” is pretty gross. Just more people taking advantage of her.

She’s entitled to royalties for any songs for which she’s credited as a songwriter. I don’t know if any of those are in the show or not. Aside from that, and seeing as deals for the show were likely struck before the end of her conservatorship, I can’t imagine she’s making much off of the show.

What a weird career he has for a Tony winner.
Was he good in DC? I know he was a last minute Hail Mary replacement after John Glover left (for whatever reason), and before that it was to be played by Simon Callow. Maybe they prefer a Brit in that role, or maybe he has another project coming up?

They would not be able to use her name if she didn’t personally agree to it. The show itself could proceed with all the same contracts in place that were done during the conservatorship, but to use her name to promote the show, she would have had to sign off on it post-conservatorship since that’s when the Broadway production contracts would have been drawn up.

The role, as it was in DC, wasn't that interesting (as I remember) so I couldn't see why he would want to continue in the role if he had anything else lined up.
But, to be honest, I don't remember much about the show. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. It was fun but Very Forgettable. A year after I saw it - and an uncountable number of shows in between - I don't remember most of the plot or anything else except the set was ugly, Emily Skinner stole the show, the gay sub plot was added as an afterthought to appease the many gay Britney fans (I never was a fan) and Mr. McGrath was wasted in the part.
Love the cast! I LOVE that Lauren Zakrin is playing Little Mermaid again, she was one of the highlights in DC imo!
Interestingly, there's a new princess listed as 'Esmeralda' which was not in the DC tryout. I wonder what other changes there will be from the DC production? Got my tickets for June!

"
Is this...Hunchback of Notre Dame Esmeralda?"
Could be!
There's also a new prince — Prince Gregarious — but I can't imagine he and Esmeralda will give the show much more weight than what's already there.

It definitely sounds like Esmeralda from Hunchback of Notre Dame. I also heard some songs have been replaced so I could totally see Britney's latest hit 'Hold Me Closer' being added to the show. Could it be Esmeralda involved in 'Hold me closer tiny dancer' lyrics? We'll see

Not likely, as it is an Elton John song and that would probably cost a fortune.

Notably, Ryann Redmond replaces MiMi Scardulla, and Nathan Levy replaces Raymond J. Lee."
I guess Mimi is staying in A BEAUTIFUL NOISE. Raymond J. Lee is in SWEENEY.
