"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)

curious how her attendance was in previous shows(Night Music, Follies, Gypsy)? Just wondering if I wait towards the end of her run to see her on what the odds of her missing a show are?
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Bernadette did not miss a single performance in Follies (Broadway and DC) or A Little Njght Music. I’d say the chances of seeing her are pretty high.

I just thought about this, but shouldn’t Bernadette be in rehearsals right now? Is there any word about how she’s doing or is Rudin keeping this quiet?

She talked about how rehearsals were going in a short interview she did with Kelly and the man whose name I forget... you can find it online on YouTube.
got tickets for the 25th! very excited! im hoping to stage door as well to meet Bernadette! I've been a a fan since I was a child and saw a the video of her performance in Into the Woods
The photoshopped pic above reminded me: will Peters get any new designs for the costumes? In particular, that "So Long, Dearie" dress looks ideal for Midler but less likely for Peters. I see her in the red dress, but can imagine adjustments. Anyone know? I know that Peters wore the same designs that Zeta-Jones wore as Desiree (and spectacularly), but this is somewhat different. Midler is so tiny with a specific shape. Just curious. It's never a given that stars wear the same clothes. When Bacall left "Woman of the Year," for example, Welch got new Norma Kamali stuff (special case), but when Debbie Reynolds came into the show, she didn't wear anything that looked exactly like Bacall's. I realize contemporary fashion is a different issue than period, but all great designers design for the figures; it's never just for the character.

BroadwayWorld posted that Bernadette Peters would be on the Today Show yesterday talking about Dolly. As of now, I can't locate the video on BroadwayWorld, Today Show site, or YouTube. Anyone see it or has it to post somewhere? Thx!

Exciting news - Carmen Ruby Floyd will be taking over for Linda Mugleston as the Dolly understudy! She just posted it to her Facebook page.

Ooo a black Dolly? I'm here for it.

On that interview with Bernadette just posted you can just tell she loves working “I sound busy don’t I” and is excited for the show. So cute. Also, Bernadette has not visibly aged a day in at least 8 years. It’s very bizarre.

I love Bernadette and I can't wait to see her in Dolly. And I have no problem with having work done but in response to "not aging in 8 years", in today's interview on Today, I noticed that it does appear that Ms. Peters' has had some work done. Again, no problem with that at all!
I wouldn’t know how to tell but yes I’d be convinced she has been under the knife regularly.

How do you all feel she'll stack up against Bette in terms of performance?
I am upset I didn't get to see Bette (because of prices) but I will definitely make it out to Bernadette. I feel as though I'm missing out on something huge not seeing Bette, but I hope Bern can bring that same energy and camp. This sounds like a personal problem lol, but I'd love to hear your thoughts in speculation and then obviously when she starts her performances!
I enjoyed Bette and it’s hard to replicate her performance because what was best about it was mainly the buzz having a legend of that status on stage. She was a good comic performer, and had a big bright warm personality. However, for my tastes there was nothing particularly spectacular about the acting or especially the vocal performance (cf. the two ladies at War Paint). Next to Carol everything sounds good though. I wish I could have seen Murphy too.
I personally speculate Bernadette will bring some of the higher quality vocals Murphy brought to the role with some of Bette’s warmth/status/charm to knock the role out of the park the same way she did in her replacement Night Music gig. Of course I am bias but there is something special about one of Broadway’s biggest stars towards the end of her career walking down those stairs. I cannot wait.

I did ask the ushers in the theater, and they said pretty much everything with Bette's name will be changed to Bernadette Peters with the same design except for the cast album and vinyl. They did mention something particularly for Bernadette but said it wouldn't be out until Feb.
I had lovely ticket to this on my birthday Feb 18th but had to return due to upcoming surgery. As much as I have LOVED Bette since "The Divine Ms M", I was so looking forward to seeing Charlie Stemp plus I felt, with BP, I would be seeing "Hello Dolly" not "Hello Bette"(as much as an event that would be). But, as soon as recovery is a bit more secure, I will be getting new ticket and I am just so excited about it!!!
Unless something is going wrong with telecharge or they release some last-minute availability, it looks like Bernadette's first performance has completely sold out right now (including premium tickets). Great news and even more movement than I would have expected (do some people think they're buying for Bette Midler still?). The first preview of FOLLIES was 30% off at TKTS on the day of performance.
