I start with Altar Boyz & Wicked
We saw them once & once was enough. Wicked was better but it was not ( nor is any show ) worth seeing 15 or 20 ( or more) times
Spelling Bee.
i loved it. But the show was 30 minutes too long. it dragged like no other towards the end.
plus the I Love You Song simply stopped all the action in the show. it grounded it to a halt.

Roxy, if WICKED isn't worth seeing 15 or 20 times, then stay home. No one is forcing you to pay multiple visits to a show you didn't like.
Geeze!
Spelling Bee is not overrated in my opinion, but Wicked and Altar Boyz are.

Hairspray
Altar Boyz is just plain fun. It's not supposed to be life-changing.
I personally don't get the hype behind The Producers. The music falls flat for me. Same went with Hairspray until I saw the show on a school trip; the book completely saves it, along with great performances.
The Lion King.
Just an observation Dolly
No need to get your knickers in a twist. Lighten up on the caffeine son
Mamma Mia -- yuck!
and I didn't love Drowsy Chaperone.

Roxy, don't EVER refer to me as your "son". When I was born you were already eligible for Medicare.
Wicked
Altar Boyz
This may sound like an anti-god statement, but...
Sweeny Todd (current revival)
oh I agree w/ Spamalot.
i found it funny, but highly sophomoric and unprofessional

CATS will always be one of those Overrated shows to me. I enjoyed it the first time but then it was like snooooooze!
Spamalot and Wicked - loved them both, but I don't understand the hype surrounding the shows...however when I won the lottery for Wicked in Boston, my mouth was in a huge "O."
Cats was not a great critical hit but audiences loved it
One critic said: "Watching Cats was like having a cat pee on your leg for 2 hours "
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
The sets were excellent, and the performances were stellar as well, but the score was somewhat mediocre (Although they were ALL better seeing live than on the OBC) and while some parts were funny, the show just didn't do a lot for me.
And yet everyone seems to love it.

Disagree on DRS
Show was a winner in every respect
DRS is the prime reason i think they should give TWO tonys.
one for score
one for lyrics
score = Piazza
lyrics = DRS
The Lion King, The Producers, Mamma Mia, Sweeney, DRS definitly overrated.

I have to agree on the Sweeney revival. I did enjoy it, but it wasn't spectacular or anything.
