Sorry to bump this thread many months later, but composer Jason Howland took to his Instagram account yesterday to leak several songs from the unreleased OBCR of Paradise Square, if anyone is interested. Lyrics by Nathan Tysen and Masi Asare
They should have just released a CD single with Let It Burn and a few remixes of it. That’s all that’s necessary.
It’s not a well written song but she sings the hell out of it and elevates it.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
“Let It Burn” is the perfect example of how a great performer can make you not even realize how bad a song is until you actually stop and think about it.
Didn't they release a bunch of studio recorded songs as promo? I haven't listened to them all so not sure if they just weren't full tracks but it felt as if they released half the score just in promo vids

Isn't that what this is? Songs from the promo? That's what it says. If so that would not be a "leak." If not, then Mr. Howland is in for a world of hurt, and I don't think he is that dumb.
I don’t think these are from the promo recording sessions, as those were before the Chicago tryout. This sounds more like the finished product, as I hear many changes were made between Chicago and Broadway (and even during Broadway previews).
For what it’s worth, the score is nothing more than okay. It tries so hard to be a Ragtime or Les Miz for the 21st century, but comes off as another Amazing Grace for the most part. This is no fault of the cast, which sounds incredible on recording.
Several songs border on generic, though the new first-act closer “Heaven Save Our Home” is an upgrade over its repetitive predecessor. Howland tries for some Celtic influences in a few numbers, but I felt more authenticity in Come From Away.
Compared to "Welcome Home," which was my favorite of the tracks originally released, I find "Heaven Save Our Home" difficult to listen to. It's a long, boring nothing of a song, and I wish they'd found a way to keep the original.
Confirmed (from many Instagram accounts of those in the show) that these are the actual OBCR tracks that he has leaked. Most likely because it would be a long wait with all the legal mess going on behind the scenes.

... synced up with what appears to be the closed-circuit FOH video from a performance. Really not a great look
Jason says in one of the postings "Can’t release the cast album for Paradise Square, but CAN share promo videos for it loosely synced to footage people filmed from their phones"

It was the opposite for me. I knew as I listened to it that a terrible song that I was, and am, so shocked that it got the reaction it did.
"Hey little girls, look at all the men in shiny shirts and no wives!" - Jackie Hoffman, Xanadu, 19 Feb 2008
This feels like the kind of show Encores! would stage around 30-35 years from now. As it stands, the book is as jam-packed as the titular saloon during happy hour. Some trimming may just lead this show in the right direction.
