I'm gonna be pissed if we get bull$hit karaoke tracks in place of some of the awesome dance music. They better have recorded some of it.

No Duck Song? Is the "Prayer For A Duck" still in the show?"

Aside from the entr'acte which is a nice bonus, it seems like they went out of their way to record as little as possible and fill the rest of the time with karaoke tracks. Lame.

What the hell does Stephen Schwartz have against recording Prayer For A Duck?!

^Was that song Fosse's idea? Maybe that's why there's no dance music tracks either.

Spoilers, perhaps? I know he was the reason they didn't put 'The Wicked Witch of the East/Dancing Through Life (Reprise)' ob the Wicked cast album.

For that matter, if you're gonna record useless karaoke bonus tracks, why not lay down the two songs that used to be in Charlemagne's scene but aren't ("Welcome Home" and "Back in the Bosom")?

Gah, disappointed. I really hope that the music for the Manson Trio is preserved in the "Glory" track, and that some of the awesome instrumentals are in the "With You" track, not just the song. (Basically, I seem to feel the same as most of you. :))

Yeah, because Theo's duck dying is the crux of the story.

Not the crux, certainly, but it's a sweet little song that serves as a turning point for Pippin's and Theo's characters. And it's never been recorded, so having it would be nice. And I don't see any logistical reason they didn't record it, since they filled the CD with four bonus tracks.

I hope the dance music is tacked on to the existing tracks. Granted, Sh-K-Boom rarely ever preserves as much as PSClassics does, but I was hoping for a little more music considering how much material is missing from the OBC. So many of the tracks on the OBC fade out at the end. It's hardly a theatrical recording.

What wait, Charlemagne's brief little songs are no longer in the show?

The Motown album went out of its way to be more of a pop album. Phil Ramone was the producer (granted he went on to do some major other cast albums like Little Shop and, less characteristically Passion), they recorded the orchestra tracks first and singers sang along to them (the first time this was done with a major cast album, I believe,) the fade outs, the fact that on a number of tracks they specifically told the performers to sing with a more pop than theatrical sound, etc. I still largely love it, though.

They better have the dance music after With You, at least, included...

"Spoilers, perhaps? I know he was the reason they didn't put 'The Wicked Witch of the East/Dancing Through Life (Reprise)' ob the Wicked cast album."

I've heard this before, and if it really was the rerasoning, it's idiotic. Anyone who buys a cast album and then complains of spoilers in it is pretty dense.

I have a question - which version of the finale does the revival use and how is it staged? I know there are different endings. I know I'm asking for a spoiler PIPPIN Cast Album: Track List & 4 Bonus Tracks

What wait, Charlemagne's brief little songs are no longer in the show?

Schwartz never liked "Welcome Home," and in some recent productions (starting, I believe, with the Deaf West revival), he introduced a new song for that scene called (alternately) "Back Home Again" and later "Back in the Bosom."

=== SPOILER ALERT ===

The revival dispenses with both of these song choices, replacing them with a scene that blends Charlemagne hearing petitions with Pippin returning home and wanting to go to war. I like it because it gets the first act moving swiftly; I hate it because I think it's too long without a number. The major omissions of this editorial choice are the "cake walk" music (which I hear has been moved elsewhere in the show, I think before the finale), and the "preparations for the Visigoth campaign" speech.

=== END SPOILER ===

Also, bwayphreak, to be brief without giving away too much, it's the "Theo ending." The author and composer have been firm since the 2000 Papermill production on not allowing any version that does not include it.

Oh no, I think I'd miss the cakewalk music (that's the opening of Fosse's minstrel bit, right?) even more. But I guess without that staging it makes less sense.

That is true, and the decision is even more idiotic when considering that the particular plot point revealed in Wicked Witch of the East is also revealed later on the cast album in March of the Witch Hunters. I did listen to the recording before seeing the show and knew what was going to happen from March of the Witch Hunters, but felt sad after seeing the show that the East song was not on the recording.

The sad thing about cutting The Wicked Witch of the East is that it is really the only decent song in that crappy score.
