Agreed. It is a very British show."

Remember that many said the same about OPERATION MINCEMEAT, and yet it continues to have the steadiest business out of a majority of the shows still running. I have zero worries about the potential success of PADDINGTON since it’s a wonderfully whimsical show based on internationally known IP. The only potential downfall I can foresee is producers getting too greedy too early and making tickets price inaccessible to families.

A new london principal cast has been announced; It looks like they are replacing not only most of the principal cast but about two thirds of the ensemble/swings - is this standard for the west end to have such a large turnover? Interestingly enough it looks like the two teenage characters, Judy and Tony, will go from being played by adult performers to actual teenagers. Out of the principals, only Teddy Kempner (Mr. Gruber) and Tarinn Callender (Grant) are sticking around.

This does mean there may be more people transferring over from London than previously thought. I'd be completely unsurprised if Victoria Hamilton-Barrett, Bonnie Langford and/or Tom Edden transfer with the show to new york in addition to the two Paddingtons. That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see some very familiar faces in this, and this is a competitive contract - Paddington is coming off a lot of buzz in london and I'm sure there's hopes it'll be a long runner. I especially believe the rumor about Rob McClure, because Mr. Brown is the most Rob McClure role to ever Rob McClure.

No one need question Sonia Friedman when it comes to budgeting a show (Stranger Things aside), that's what I'll say. No single actor is going to blow the bank I promise you that."

When I talked about names in my post, I meant Broadway veterans. I don't think they need too many. I am worried they will blow up the budget too much, but maybe they won't be paid as much as I thought. I know they are not going to cast Bette Middler as Mrs. Bird.

I really think this is going to be a popular show regardless of the cast.

Can confirm. I was on Flea entry line (the early people) with one of the investors for the upcoming Broadway transfer and he informed me that the only people who received offers to transfer were James and Arti, but then as of a few weeks ago, plans had changed and the offer was rescinded."

Why would they have been given offers and then have them rescinded? Is that a normal thing to happen on Broadway?
