With Love Never Dies coming to Broadway this fall, will they close Phantom of the Opera?? If they don't would this be the first time they would have the original and the sequel (well i actually have never heard of a sequel unless you consider something like Wicked) going on at the same time??
O and I hope Sierra Boggess plays Christine soo bad!!

"well i actually have never heard of a sequel"
LOL Where have you been?
i meant to a Broadway play.. and cut me slack, I'm only 15.. I don't know many shows before the 2000's..
I know what you meant, and there have been many of them, and each and every one of them failed

15-year-olds don't have natural curiosity or an ability to use google?
umm. i gured that people on this board know their facts.. and i looked and couldn't find anything.. the only thing they are talking about is the hairspray movie sequel and phantom of the opera sequel
Why would Lloyd Webber close his greatest accomplishment on Broadway for a sequel? ...why close Broadway's longest running show ever when it's selling over 90%+ each week?
well could having two shows one of the original and a sequel eventually kill the other one?
I don't think so. Plenty of people will flock to see the original before they see the sequel, and plenty will see the sequel and get driven back to the original. Who knows though, apparently Lloyd Webber's name isn't enough to sell a show anymore (Woman in White for example).
Not only that, but I remember reading something about the sequel where Lloyd Wbber basically said it could survive on it's on...which is more than likely true. The book, while I didn't finish it, was bizarre and I'm not exactly sure how it will work out, seems more like an extension, if anything to the story...!
not to mention they recently spent a ton of money on the Broadway show so I doubt they plan to close it anytime soon, although it would be strange having the original and the sequel playing on the same street.
Good God everyone, can we be a little more selective with the noobs we attack?
Get ready for some "see both in one day" performance schedules and ticket promnotions.
There needs to be an age limit on this board.
18 and over only.
Or at least 12 and over.
I would like to see them back to back. But I believe closing down PotO would not be the best option and very unlikely.
I kinda wish we could get Phantom on Broadway, but it's like the ugly duckling of PotO, but I really like it! But I don't see that happening so...
Or, rather than banning anyone under 18, we could all start acting like mature, reasonable adults and simply ANSWER THE QUESTION and stop attacking someone for asking. There's nothing wrong with asking. They could 'ask' Google or they could come here and ask. WHY does the fact that they came here bother you so much? You go to the 'experts' and goodness knows that there are plenty of people around here who think they fill that bill!
I agree with Tom. I much prefer to ignore those who annoy. (Though our newest member here didn't annoy me as much as many "mature" posters here)

Very well said, Tom!!
Why would we ban people under 18 here, when a lot of members who are over 18 act like they're 12...?
There's no such a thing as a stupid question. It's the reply that's stupid.

Has it ever? Other than Cats and The Phantom of the Opera, none of his shows played more than two or three years (Evita being the exception, playing about 4 years).

I'm really excited about this sequel. I hope the score doesn't get too modernish and retains the lush symphonic patterns of the original. I don't think any show sells because of a person's name. Webber had a huge hit with Cats, a flop with Starlight, then his biggest hit with Phantom, so none of his shows have ever sold because of his name. Love Never Dies will sell if it's good, period. The Woman in White had too many problems in my opinion, although I will say I enjoyed it. We'll see what happens, but I hope we get a double CD out of it.
