The artwork is very cute. The strawberries are bleeding with background, but I don't mind it too much. Looking forward to hear the reviews from the out-of-town engagement - the spring season is PACKED.
I just know one or two of these new musicals are going to get lost this spring, even with good reviews. I'm afraid AMELIE might be one of them.
Not to mention that the list of candidates for Lead Actress in a Musical is going to be even more crowded than last year.

Not only that, but there are so many similar quirky fantasy-ish (not necessarily in the material/theme, but in the design) musicals out there that have already gained much more traction (Natasha Pierre) or are contemporary classics (Anastasia and Charlie and the Chcocolate Factory).
They really should delay it till next season, but oh well.

I imagine they want to take advantage of whatever hype they can get for having an original cast member of Hamilton whilst that hype is still there.

Tickets are now on Ticketmaster. Looks like there are bunch still being held back.

According to the TheaterMania takeover, it's just an AmEx presale for now through the 22nd.

I can't add another show to my week long stay in April, so I'm planning a trip back in June/July. What're the chances of Adam and Phillipa taking a vacation because of the Tony frenzy and then taking 4th of July week off? I'm trying to figure out when would be the safest time to come back
Phillipa is perfect casting

They look like raspberries to me

Out of curiosity, when was the last time a female Asian (Pippa is half-Asian) actress would lead a Broadway show in a role that isn't racially specific (ie. Miss Saigon, Allegiance, etc.)? Is this the first time?
I wouldn't count Hamilton as Eliza wasn't the focus as Amelie is.
I know nothing about the story of Amelie do the Raspberry's have to do with the story ?

Ali Ewoldt is currently playing Christine in Phantom on Broadway, so no, not the first time. http://www.nbcnews.com/news/asian-america/phantom-s-first-broadway-asian-american-christine-yale-lea-salonga-n584216
Alyssa Fox is the Elphaba standby and she's half Japanese. I would take a look at Elphabas, there may be more.
^or originate
Ah! I totally forgot about Ali. I even saw her in Phantom.
Didn't know that Alyssa was half Japanese. Thanks for that.
Maybe I was going to "originate"... either way it's not too often so I was curious.

Amelie puts them on her fingers as a whimsical, playful gesture before she eats them one by one. In the Berkeley Rep production, child Amelie definitely had them on her fingers. Adult Amelie probably did too but I don't remember it specifically. Here's a clip from the movie:

I'm excited for this regardless. I think SOO is such a talent, and happy to have her back on Broadway.

We have a long way to go in terms of Asian American/Asian representation, but the last few years have been better.
Phillipa Soo has the same kind of unique and striking look that made Audrey Tatou stand out in the film. She seems perfect casting.
I saw this in early stages at Berkeley Rep. I think they still have a lot of overall story/structural work to do before it's ready for Broadway. Hopefully, a lot of it gets worked out in L.A.
Is anyone on the west coast going to see this when it opens? I'm really excited for it and want to catch it in New York, but am going to wait until some reviews start coming in. I thought the tickets were a bit on the expensive side.
The Los Angeles Times reviewed it when it was at Berkeley and raved, so I imagine it will rave about it when it plays in LA. This could be one of those shows that sort of sneaks up on us and becomes a surprise hit, especially with Soo now in the lead role. I could even see it as a possible Tony nominee (NOT winner) in what I assume will come down to a horse race between Comet and DEH.

I'm so glald I get to see this at home in LA, as my April trip to NYC is already packed...so many great shows to choose from this time around:)

I saw it at Berkeley with Sam Barks and I will be in LA later this month to see it again.
I am planning to see a Thursday matinee so I'm a little worried that Phillipa might be out. I know she was absent quite a bit towards the end of her run in Hamilton but does anyone know what her attendance was like when Hamilton was in previews last year? The show isn't too vocally demanding and it would literally be the 3rd week so barring illness, etc, I am thinking I should be fine.

I'm pretty sure her absences only became noticeable in the last 6 weeks or so of her run.
