Too bad, because I've been looking for a kidney to complete my collection. Please don't ask of what.

I think you are, star2b.
And I might have made this up, but I thought the premiere was in New York.

That would make sense to me, and I was going to post that, but I wasn't sure either.

In a fairly related topic, how would we ask this question (or any other) on the Rent blog/Q & A? I'm sure Anthony (or one of the others) would know!

Thanks, Emcee. That's what I get for not taking the time to read all those. There's usually SO many!

Know what would be awesome? If they did what Disney did for POCAHONTAS many years ago: do the premiere in Central Park.
But I don't think Sony would upfront the money for it.
Maybe have it at the Nederlander Theatre? They could easily setup a movie screen and take it down.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Now *that* would be beautiful. I heard something about the Ziegfeld. I don't know what to believe, though.

Emcee, you may have heard about the Ziegfeld from me, but that was just an informed guess. It's the theater of choice for NY premiers, because it's so big and the projection and sound systems are excellent.
I hope you're right, Mimi, it will be exciting to catch all the hoopla.

They could go BIG and do Central Park, if they do show we "rocky horror" it and all show up in costume?

Does anyone but me think this movie will flop! I mean, talk about limited appeal! I think the only people who will see it are the rentheads, a very very small percentage of the movie going public. And what the hell is so relevant about it?! Although I enjoy it I find it very self-indulgent and dated and most people except the crazed fans would agree.

the problem with your theory is your forget that the crazed fans will see the movie OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER meaning they amount of the movie makes will be inflated in relation to the actual number of people who see the show.
when ducks grow thumbs then maybe my opinion will change.

Umm, well now that's just silly.
Limited appeal? Are you kidding?
Look at the success that 'Phantom' had. Even better, look at 'Chicago.' Please explain the difference to me. It elludes me.
ETA: Yes, It's Clay and Heather Headley. She invited him to sing with her for her Euqity Fights Aids concert last year. Adam Pascal and Norm Lewis were also featured in special duets with her.

You're both pretty far off-course; think about it. Those are two HUGE extremes. Yes, it's limited, but not so limited that it will totally flop, IMO. And even if the RENTheads see it over and over and over again, that's not going to be enough to single-handedly finance the film's success. Think about what you're saying, people. There are many more factors than just what you're bringing up - it's hardly such simple black and white.
