I actually have debated over these last weeks whether I wanted to engage in more discussions of this sort, and I've largely stayed away.
I only entered into this one when I was smarmily referred to as "the cast members who post here." I took the bait, whether or not it was intended to be bait. I think people should be held responsible for the things they say, especially since I have been a vocal and active member of this community for well over a year now.
Again, I am NOT saying don't say anything negative about my work or about me. Just know that if you mischaracterize something I've said or done or make flase statements or stuff like that, I will respond. As I would expect any of you to do.
I am not looking for ass-kissing here, believe me. I appreciate people coming to my defense, but I don't need it. What I am looking for is *respectful* dialogue. That has always been my goal, dating back ten years ago when I first started posting publicly. If, MB, you really do feel like I have offended you in any of my posts or messages, I sincerely apologize.
And by the way, I have been working on lots of different projects, auditions, etc, in the last few months, let alone the last eleven years. Not that I am at all ashamed of dedicating so much of my time and energy during some of those years to Rent. But just so you know.
I agree I should have more of a sense of humor at times. But after all, I did name myself Whiteboy Spice on these boards.
Oh, and of course accepting the job of the film version of Rent looked like a good career move. It was an incredible opportunity. And a rare moment in which artistic and more practical reasons lined up nicely. Although no one got rich off of it, believe me.
I just got home from seeing Walk the Line and King Kong -- a double feature! -- and was very inspired by both, for different reasons. Lots went on here in the meantime.
MB, thanks for continuing with this conversation, by the way, and not running from it. And thanks for the respect you've shown me in the process. I do appreciate that.
I'm glad you had a good time at the movies. Next time I should follow your example and peel my eyes away from this board. Thanks for the post, Anthony. And good morning. :)

When I woke up this morning I checked out everything I missed on the boards, and to my surprise, Rent didn't receive a golden globe nom, but what came as a shock to me is that everyone has become so mean to each other over their oppinions about a movie. Everyone shoudl realize that people will have their own feelings (good or bad) about this movie. Personally, I loved it.

What did you expect? It was a poorly directed, constructed movie with actors who are NOT screen actors. Despite the wonderful source material it was a HUGE ASS letdown.
Don't f*ck with me fellas. This ain't my first time at the rodeo.
I'm literally ashamed of most of you, not that you'll care. Some have let the original poster not only get away with, but proudly participated in, bashing this movie and its participants for doing nothing more than give their best efforts within their limits.
You all know I loved the movie, not for its perfection, because it simply isn't perfect. I love the movie for what it tried to do, and what it DID do well.
I do not understand this level of hatefulness, maybe I'm too many years beyond it, I don't know. It smacks of high school. Reveling in the disappointment of others, and using that as so called evidence to support what was, and still is, your opinion, ought to be seen and treated for what it is, juvenile.
Have your opinions, talk to others that share them, have a damn party if you wish...but this ridiculously wicked giddiness at the expense of others' disappointment is beneath anyone I could ever respect, again, not that you care.

I personally took no issue with the performances. I thought the acting was overall quite good (yes, EVEN from Adam). I can agree that there were some very questionable directoral decisions that overshadowed the original material and the performances, which is unfortunate.
It definitely wasn't the best piece of film ever produced but I did manage to enjoy it anyway, for what it was.

Dame, I may be late, I usually am late on the board b/c of my schedule, but I was responding in total and I am absolutely astounded by the number of posts since I went to work yesterday. Yes I read them all, and yes I realize no one is currently arguing. I don't only post when an argument is currently in progress nor is that a requirement at the moment. Just disregard if it doesn't apply to you, simple as that...Have a good day.
It's the same person who was in it before the switch. <<<
Pssssst....DAME is messing with you.
