For the record --
I actually have debated over these last weeks whether I wanted to engage in more discussions of this sort, and I've largely stayed away.
I only entered into this one when I was smarmily referred to as "the cast members who post here." I took the bait, whether or not it was intended to be bait. I think people should be held responsible for the things they say, especially since I have been a vocal and active member of this community for well over a year now.
Again, I am NOT saying don't say anything negative about my work or about me. Just know that if you mischaracterize something I've said or done or make flase statements or stuff like that, I will respond. As I would expect any of you to do.
I am not looking for ass-kissing here, believe me. I appreciate people coming to my defense, but I don't need it. What I am looking for is *respectful* dialogue. That has always been my goal, dating back ten years ago when I first started posting publicly. If, MB, you really do feel like I have offended you in any of my posts or messages, I sincerely apologize.
And by the way, I have been working on lots of different projects, auditions, etc, in the last few months, let alone the last eleven years. Not that I am at all ashamed of dedicating so much of my time and energy during some of those years to Rent. But just so you know.
I agree I should have more of a sense of humor at times. But after all, I did name myself Whiteboy Spice on these boards.
Oh, and of course accepting the job of the film version of Rent looked like a good career move. It was an incredible opportunity. And a rare moment in which artistic and more practical reasons lined up nicely. Although no one got rich off of it, believe me.
I just got home from seeing Walk the Line and King Kong -- a double feature! -- and was very inspired by both, for different reasons. Lots went on here in the meantime.
MB, thanks for continuing with this conversation, by the way, and not running from it. And thanks for the respect you've shown me in the process. I do appreciate that.
