The stage production.
The taped final performance.

The closest one to NYC is in Olean, NY.

I am so dissapointed! They don't have a single theatre in Massachusetts.
They have a ton in PA. But none in NJ.
This sucks!
They don't have any theaters in California!
So is there no way this will come out on DVD?

Not a one in California either! Damn!
im sure it will a.either get to come out on dvd...or b.be leaked by someone onto the internet...im sure it will be out somewhere
None in here Denver either. The closest ones are in Greeley and Colorado Springs. 2 places I never go to.
Is it exclusive to this company? Maybe other theatres will put it out too, and this is just an announcement from this particular company.
Someone will intercept it & we can all be able to see it.
Doesn't make sense to me. Carmike Cinemas seemed to fade out years ago.
I don't understand why they don't just release it in Manhattan where the broadway show actually is.
Because they want people across the country to be able to see it.
I just e-mailed Regal Entertainment (United Artists) and asked if they are showing it. I will post the response if I get one.
I know sometimes some company called Fathom Events hosts special airings of concerts, movies, and other events in movie theaters. I'm surprised they aren't linked to this event. I mean, they aired the semi-finals of DCI last year. And I don't remember, but I don't think there is one specific chain linked to this, but I could be wrong.
This sucks! Not a one close to the Chicago land area. They are all basically in southern IL.
i bloody hope they release it on dvd.
not like it would do any harm, just increase the fan base + give them money.

Because it's been in Manhattan for 12 years and everyone there has seen it by now, possibly repeatedly, and if they really wanted to see it live one last time, they'd see it in person at the Nederlander.

Maybe this was clarified already, but are they actually taping the closing performance of Rent? Or are they taping it sometime between now and September?
I don't 100% remember, but I think they're broadcasting the last performance live, with OBC performances + interviews around about it.
The closing performance will simulcast LIVE to movie theatres from the Nederlander.
And it's neither highly likely nor unlikely that it will be recorded for DVD release. They have done this "LIVE Simulcast" stuff before with things like operas at The Met and such. Some have made their way to DVD while others have not.
Carmike Cinemas is exclusively a movie theatre company. They don't do DVDs. So a DVD production company would have to be hired seperately. The producers would make that decision.

Wow, North Dakota actually has a Carmike. It's a really disgusting theater though, quality-wise.

Thanks, hook. So is the live broadcast different than what's going to Carmike Cinemas?
Why am I so confused over this...? lol
I've never even heard of them.
I immediately thought this was a thread about the movie that someone bumped up from a thousand years ago.
