OMG! This news is very upsetting. May he rest in peace. He did so much, and changed Broadway for the better. His legacy will live on.

Well, who'd have thought there was enough human left in him to die?

I won't believe it until I put my finger in the holes in his hands and the wound in his side.

I have nothing but good things to say about Arthur personally, but I do know others are less cheerful when it comes to him. In any event, this is rather shocking news, to say the least.

Wow, RIP.
He was very nice to me when I spoke to him after a performance of WSS.
Some on here are going to enjoy this news.

This was the second half of the Osama plan.

But on a serious note, the man did write the book for two of the greatest American musicals, scratch that, any musicals, of all time.

I sort of don't believe it either. My mouth is still gaping.

I mean I figured he's at least live as long as Queen Mother. I sorta got a Tuck Everlasting feel from him.

I'm not all that devastated -- he lived a full life, if not always a happy one. Having said that, he was often a mean-spirited person who made life miserable for many.

I am in shock. Wow, this is unbelievable. No matter how terrible his attitude was, he did do amazing things for the American theater and was incredibly talented. RIP.

Now it's the time to start worrying about other legends. He was the oldest living legend of Broadway right?

OMG!!! This is shocking! I know he was a difficult man, but one cannot ignore his contributions to the American stage.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

At least he'll be reunited with Tom, as Ed Mottershead said.

It's hard to believe he's really gone. I will be forever grateful for giving me Gypsy, one of my favorite shows and favorite theatrical memories of all time. RIP
