My heart just broke.

She will forever be awkwardly screaming "whee!" in the rain in my heart.
This really hit me. So, so sad.
To me, she'll always be 16 going on 17...

Such a lovely young woman. My condolences to her family and friends. It sounds like she had a rewarding and happy life after this memorable movie role.
Such sad news. I loved her in Sound of Music. Dementia is a terriible disease. :'(

yesss! this made me laugh and then cry
Where have the years gone.
Heartbreaking news.
May she rest in great peace.
She will be forever young because of that movie!
I love that.
And another von Trapp child passes away. Crazy that the "parents" are outliving them.
RIP Heather Menzies-Urich (Louisa)
I remember absolutely adoring Liesl when I first watched the Sound of Music as a kid. What a beautiful performer and wonderful person. She will be missed

With all due respect, Charmian Carr passed away on September 18, 2016.
This post was bumped up because of Heather Menzies-Urich's passing on Christmas Eve. She played Louisa in THE SOUND OF MUSIC film.
