At first glance, I love most of these nominations. Only a little less love for ROCKY and BRIDGES than I would have liked, but on the whole nothing leapt out at me as undeserved. Sad for Ian McKellen, but if Samuel Barnett took his place I'm more than thrilled.

I'm kind of surprised that Kitt & Yorkey got nominated but If/Then didn't!
Anyone have the tallies yet?
Someone tell me how After Midnight and Aladdin get noms over Bridges and If/Then please. All the Best Actress nods are spot on.

Gregg Barnes' snub for ALADDIN's costuming was a huge shock to me.
Glad to see it get recognized in most of the big categories!
Interesting the BULLETS got more noms than ALADDIN.
I feel so bad for everyone at BRIDGES. Was hoping for a 5th Best Musical nom for them.
Lots of love for Casa Valentina!
How did Timbers not get a nod for his direction on Rocky, only 4 best musical noms, no Quinto, no Williams. Bridges is now done for. What a strange set of nominations.
Did Mary Bridget Davis even have that much buzz??
I am devastated over Steven Pasquale's omission, and overjoyed over Mary Bridget Davies' inclusion. So... wash.
Someone tell me how After Midnight and Aladdin get noms over Bridges and If/Then please.
Sure! If the show was not bad, Then it would have gotten all the nominations.
I didn't see "Bridges" so I can't speak to that snub, but I really am stunned by the "If/Then" snub. It's not the greatest musical I've ever seen, but I thought surely it was good enough for a Best Musical nomination!
(I'm also pretty surprised it didn't get a Best Set Design nomination, after all the creative things they did with that set.)
And the TONY goes to....Gentleman's Guide.
After Midnight got rave reviews in a season of mixed reviews, not a real shocker.
Wow, is all that can be said. sad for Bridges
Honestly, I am pretty disgusted across the board. I can't believe they had the option of including a 5th show and didn't - especially considering there were many worthy shows.
I'm happy for Ramin Karimloo, but very disappointed for Steven Pasquale.
loliveve, The Producers had three Featured Actor nominations.
I'm happy Twelfth Night snagged three Featured Actor nominations as well. Those were the three I immediately thought would/should be nominated after I walked out of the show. (And Samuel Barnett.)
Well, JRB got his nomination.
But, so did Mencken.
When two of the four nominees for Best Musical do not have original scores - and a third barely qualifies for an original score...I guess the Committee had to look elsewhere.
plus no love for Bullets
Hope Gentleman's Guide has the dough to advertise all these nominations across awards, it's the only clear cut winner from a nomination perspective and a very impressive number of noms. Their previous nominations didn't help its box office last week. Let's see what this does. What are we thinking? Bridges closes this weekend or next?
WTF? LaChanze, If/Then (Best Orchestrations), and Aladdin (Best Direction and the creative) got robbed!
So happy that Paul Chahidi was nominated! And Samuel Barnett! Lots of well-deserved love for Twelfth Night. I don't know if the Brits even care about the Tonys though.
