That's the thing, though, isn't it. I've been posting here on and off for going on 11 years now (good lord!), and I have never once considered this board a place for "saying mean things about actors."

My first post here would have been something to do with the Wicked tour, back when I lived in L.A. I've come here to talk about theatre when I moved from L.A. to NY, as my taste in favorite show(s) changed, I've met people from this board in real life, there are actors who worked out who I am in real life from this board, I've used this board to read about new shows, get info on rush/lotto, learn what else I should be seeing, etc.

Hell, I never would have known about Lysistrata Jones if not for these boards. A show which I then saw twice - once off-Bway, once on.

4200+ posts (!) and 11 years later, I've learned to scroll past what doesn't interest me, and my brain filters out those posters who cross my line (for example, all of the racist Hamilton posts on here), but it was a little bit of a "huh" moment for me to see/hear/read these stage actors completely negate these boards into people "saying mean things about actors" place or a jealous people who aren't creating theatre so we have no right to talk about it place, or calling the entire board "trolls," or whatever else it is that we ALL are today, with no room for nuance.

Well, I blocked Carlos long ago because I consider him a bully and a grandstander, so I really have no idea what he's been saying on this thread. I've always respected you and your posts, ghostlight, but this conversation is clearly not over. So I'll move on when I so choose. But if you're done with the conversation, I guess you're more than free to disengage.

I may be a martyr, but I'm not a troll. And I wish that Patti Murin would acknowledge that.

Im just curious, PJ, why do you need a person who you don't know to say that? Why do you need that from her so badly?

Patti Murin can call me the second coming of Satan (which some on this board have) for all I care...

Thanks for the kind words AC1. I guess what I'm saying is that I don't see the point in continuing to rail against what has occurred. TPTB have spoken, and having gone this far, are unlikely to turn back. I'm still in this conversation because I have ALWAYS wanted this board to be more civil and less clique-y. The personal attacks, stalking, name-calling and topic-derailing drove me away. For me this board has always been, and will always be about Broadway, not about the members of the board.



I'm not even terribly concerned about the actors' feelings. I think it is rather foolish for actors to visit here, unless they have very thick skins. I look to have more civility amongst ourselves. Just today I was personally attacked by two posters. They added nothing to the conversation, just attacked me, personally, for my opinion (and no, I didn't report them).



I do apologize for telling you what to do. You do whatever you need to in order to get closure. I just don't think you'll get it.

Ah - so are you in favor of censorship or not? I say that tongue in cheek lest you use that as a springboard. Quite honestly, as one of the original crew and someone who worked here for close 10 years, I think my opinion on this site (and board) are quite valid - regardless of any absence. Perhaps not to you. But we can discuss the 99% vs 1% in regards to that too

Anyway - I do understand why people are upset. But "this too shall pass." Except for allusions to this incident and possibly resurrecting this thread and others - I imagine in as less as a month (maybe even less) most people will have moved on to something else.

Patti her self offered to talk with those posters that she called out on her blog. I believe only one took her up on her offer and the others simply ignored the request.



i wish they had taken her up on that offer and opened up a direct dialogue with her and corrected her on some of her misperceptions, but they chose instead to continue complaining on the board.



Go figure.
