I'm sure there are others that I can't think of...
"I'm tellin' you, the only times I really feel the presence of God are when I'm having sex and during a great Broadway musical." - Nathan Lane - Jeffrey
It wouldn't actually be a revival (though if it were to happen, it might be considered one), but Children of Eden is a very good show that might work on Broadway with a great director and a solid cast. Great score that is very personal and can really get to you, and with a little work on the 2nd act, it'd be great, I think.
"Who is Stephen Sondheim?" -roninjoey "The man who wishes he had written Phantom of the Opera!" - SueleenGay
Baby (with some re-orchestrations. Maybe with a small orchestra rather than an '80's synth. And Sutton Foster) Into The Woods! And not exactly a revival, but Zanna, Don't needs to open on Broadway. Bat Boy would be nice....
I would love to see a revival of Hair, but I don't think it would do very well. The Vietnam War doesn't strike a chord with the current generation as it did with the last one.
Also, it's high time for West Side Story to go back to Broadway. If the NCSA production is any indication, it will be well received.
I can't talk now. I gotta go get my wallet out of the toaster.
There was a televised version of Applause - I don't recall it much. I'd have to say of the Tony winners I've seen or whose cast recordings I've listened to, it ranks down there with Big River.
I'm curious about Two Gentlemen of Verona. Never saw it - never heard it. Don't even know why it won over Follies and Grease. Similarly, I'm curious about Redhead and was it really completely dependent on Gwen Verdon?
What about Hugh Jackman in George M! (There's also a televised version of this show, which I saw along with the stage production with Joel Grey out in LA)
Anyone for Kismet with Brian Stokes Mitchell and Kelli O'Hara?
Looking forward to the London revival with Michael Ball and Faith Prince.
Why, hello Margaret! Yes darling, half past five. Well, everyone, simply le tout Park Avenue and la creme de Hyannis! Well, the press table's going to be awfully crowded... but if you don't mind sharing a folding chair with Harper's Bazaar... Sing? Me? Heavens no, it's Edie's day, not mine... Although people can be so insistent, and I hate to disappoint. Twist my arm, blackmail me, threaten my very life, and who knows? You might get a verse of something...
I Think Instead of New Revivals Of Old Musical They Should Just Open Up New But Identical Productions of Wicked At Diffrent Theatres Aroudn The City, Kind Of Like Starbucks.
Just Kidding, In All Seriousness Though...
Promises, Promises Hello Dolly - With Dolly Parton
and City of Angels (Which Was Before My Time and I Honestly Know Nothing About But It Sounds Intresting Enough So I Say What The Hell)
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
I would love to see an arthur miller play brought back. kinda bring some audiences to see a play, rather than a musical.
all my sons, death of a salesman. hmm. just a thought?
'Acting provides the fulfillment of never being fulfilled. You're never as good as you'd like to be. So there's always something to hope for.'
