It is gonna feel weird not see Cats or Mamma Mia! at the Winter Garden. I hope Rocky the Musical is good.

Posted: 4/28/13 at 5:33pmI mean, Ahrens and Flaherty are involved and their work is always professional, and 95% of the time, wonderful. For me, at least.

How many 80's/90's films do they still need to bring to Broadway and, consequently, flop badly?
Gremlins, Goonies, Star Wars, Airplane, Tootsie, Ghostbusters, Karate Kid, Ferris Bueller, zzzz...

Posted: 4/28/13 at 5:38pmCan't believe that people thought Les Mis would kick out Mamma Mia. I'm happy for an original musical to take a prime venue.

Here's some older footage of the show in rehearsal in Germany, March 2012, when Andy Karl played the role. I'm definitely a fan of Ahrens and Flaherty, but sorry, this looks embarrassing to me. If this peek is any indication, as Mr. Roxy reminds us, Rocky could well go the way of Sophie and Jimmy and Georgy.

Posted: 4/28/13 at 5:58pmThis is the first non British musical at the Winter Garden since 42nd Street, the Shuberts must think it has potential for them to make Mamma Mia! move theatres.

Posted: 4/28/13 at 5:59pmI wish they'd do a ROCKY/MAMMA MIA mash up where Rocky beats the shlt out of the Mamma Mia cast.

This is another one of those parody musicals, right?

Posted: 4/28/13 at 6:01pmI really hope Andy Karl plays Rocky on Broadway. I just feel like he's been busting his butt for so long and I'd love to see him finally originate a lead in a new musical. I heard he was fantastic in the workshop.

#18Rocky to take the Winter Garden
Posted: 4/28/13 at 6:09pmI'd love to see Andy Karl do anything. But this sounds like it could be down for the count in the first round.

Posted: 4/28/13 at 6:09pmLOL! That kind of mash up would be worth the money and time than MAMMA MIA! itself.
