^ Wholly agree with you. But I don't think Wilson could have a problem pulling it off. I mean, there had to be a reason why he got casted in the role he orginated. Well, at least my friend is going to be happy about this (obviously, the girl loves Wilson).

wow i'm actually excited for rosario to be mimi. I wouldn't have guessed it, but i think she'll do a great job. I was pulling for mya, because i think she is a great definition of mimi (sexy, great body, young and innocent looking), but rosario will kick ass!!!!
ps: i really need to start saying rosario DAWSON, because when I just say "rosario," i think of karen's maid on will and grace! lol
Am I a bad RENThead for really wanted Jai as Angel instead?

No, because I was really pulling for Jai in the beginning, more so after I heard his rendition of "I'll Cover You" (thank you...certain...recordings...). But I'm cool with Wilson.

ooo how i too was pulling for jai. jai is so much fun in everything (QE, Rent, etc) but still i think wilson will be very good. afterall, he did win a tony for this character, so because i never got to see him (or any of the other OBC), I think it will be a delight to see his portrayal!
justin was incredible, but my favorite was shaun earl's angel. i thought shaun was an excellent dancer, and conveyed original ideas to the character...i was very impressed
I was so disappointed about a year ago when Andy Senor started losing his voice but was performing anyone - I was SO ****ing pissed off at them for letting him go on. He ruined it, you couldn't hear a god damned word he was singing or saying, and Collins had to make up for it

Winter, maybe. I saw him 3 consecutive times in a month and I wanted to run on stage and strangle him. I haven't been to RENT in a while...who IS Angel now?

ok, *please* don't attack me, but i've never heard of rosario dawson before. i immediately looked her up on imdb (its instinct) and she has a pretty impressive resume. i'm sure she can pull it off; they wouldn't cast her if she couldn't.
where on earth is our whiteboy spice?!? I want some semi-verification!
(and NOT from IMDB b/c I happen to know that ANYONE can post info on there - I got drunk one night and posted some info about my best friend and uncle ... some of which I messed up in my delusional state)
I'm not gonna lie, I would have been happier if they had cast either of the two actresses who had played the role before. I'm not sure I'm completely buying it though...

Why would you need verification from Whiteboy_Spice when Variety is reporting this?
kates, here's something to boost your spirits: Rosario Dawson has never played Mimi on stage before, but she's been a leading lady for a film made by Spike Lee, who will most likely be mentioned in the film during "Light My Candle."
I got the word about Rosario the other day, but because I don't know her, and since I didn't know if it could be public knowledge, I didn't post it yet.
But yes, it's true, she has been offered the role. As Evelyn said, it was reported in Variety, which makes it about as verified as it can get.
Bernie Telsey, the casting director, told my agent that she was amazing in her screen test, so I'm very confident she can sing it. He's not one to make **** up.
Hopefully sometime this week or next all the details will be hammered out and we'll all have *signed contracts* and be confirmed.
I will, of course, let you know, when that has happened.
Broadway.com is saying Wilson accepted the role of Angel (or that's what I gathered). Is that true, too? Jai Rodriguez said he was supposed to audition next week or something, so now I'm kind of confused.. but thanks for the confirmation on Rosario.
Thanks, Whiteboy Spice. Of course you're more than welcomed to let us know about the cinematographer, editor, costume designer, set designer and other members of the crew too. I'm just itching to know about the cinematography and set design.

After Alexander, Rosario will be their Hollywood star power.
