Rumor: Edward Albee's THE GOAT, OR WHO IS SYLVIA? Broadway Revival starring Steve Carell and Sarah Paulson — Page 2

I saw the original twice, with both casts, and found it a rarity: it worked as well with both. Ruhl was an exploding ammo closet, rage tinged with heartbreak; Sally Field was a small firecracker who finally detonated, and when she unleashed her fury, via fireworks, the play galvanized in news ways. It's that good as a text, that open to interpretation. These two stars should tear into it.

This apparently has Circle in the Square up next.

Yes, this play is really all about the wife (and to a certain extent the son, as his arc defines the play's major theme).

This is an incredible cast.

That big monologue Steve has toward the end...Sarah Paulson is coming for Tony #2.

Any news on this. Sarah Paulson presented at the Tonys, I know she loves Broadway. I don't know if she's filming anything soon but it could bow in Spring 2027. Pedro Pascal would be a great partner for her would be cool to see him make his Broadway debut.

Pedro Pascal’s Broadway debut was as Edmund in Glenda Jackson’s KING LEAR! I remember him being a rare great thing about that production (along with Ruth Wilson).

Sarah will bring in the crowds, but I'd love to see Ruth Wilson as Stevie. She has a vulnerable side. Stevie's toughness should be as much of a discovery to her as it is to us. With Sarah it's a given.
I love the play but I'm not excited by the Paulson/Pascal casting.

I wouldn’t go so far to say that Paulson will bring in the crowds. While her last show did gangbusters business towards the mid and end of its runs, you could generally walk right in for cheap prior. I think all of her previous shows closed early.
That said, I think the pairing of the two, especially considering the number of talk shows that would die to book this duo for press, will make this a hot ticket early on.

If anyone will bring in the crowds it will be Pedro. The poor guy can barely go anywhere without the paparazzi on his tails. Plus he is part of the Marvel and DC franchise. I think he will do for the project what Daniel Radcliffe did for Merrily We Roll Along.

Pascal could end up with a Tony nomination. Jonathan Price was nominated for an Olivier & Evening Standard Award for Martin. Bill Pullman was nominated for a Drama Desk.
Eddie Redmayne won Best Newcomer at the Critic's Circle & Evening Standard awards. And was nominated for an Olivier in Supporting for Billy.

Augie27, you stated this perfectly. I saw Bill Irwin and Sally Field as well. I can still remember the absolute ferocity let loose when Sally Field, in her Broadway debut, detonated! I'll never forget it...
