Me and my friends, who were also on our way to Sping Awakening, saw them in the Starbucks and had no clue what that was. We all just took it for a little Sunday afternoon New York City madness.

Hello! This is The girl who dressed up as Holly in Saturday Night in the City! I have Linda with me!

Well, these are some colorful message boards! I can see we have been both positively and negatively recieved!

Allow me to say a couple of things. First, to those who were, are, and will be distracted, I am very sorry. The cheering will be taken down a notch. We won't dance in our seats. We won't chat to ourselves (although this we have never done so no need to worryabout that... :) ).

We will continue dressing up though. This is because we have been asked by cast and crew members to come back dressed up. We have been told we are fun audience members who do well to get the audience rolling. I understand that some of you say cast memebers are "scared" of us and I think that is probably the most hurtful thing I have read but there are people who do appreciate it and we do it for them.

Now clearly some things need to be clarified:
I am 18.
Linda is 18.
"Not That Kind of Thing" Holly is 15.
Julia is 14.

Myself and Linda are of age and have every right to dress how we want. I'm not being rude when I say that, it's our choice and I don't appreciate anyone referring to my friend as "trashy". I mean obviouslyyou can say what you want but it's always been a theater thing with me to be kind of wild and out there. Basically my friends and I perform even off the stage. It's just who we are.

To clarify, not one usher said anything to us. I am not sure if people complained and if they did then that is there story but no ushers said a word to us. All we got were smiles.

And honestly, if you dressed up like that and you had George's towel thrown directly to you, the bouquet, AND the garter, wouldn't you want to continue doing it? Honestly?

We're not trying to offend the fans. We're not trying to steal your thunder. We know some of you have seen it like hundreds of times and we respect that. If the screaming felt like disrespect to you then allow me to at least say it wasn't intentional and we'll hold back there.

That is all I have to say in our defense. And I agree withwhat one person said. It is hard enough being a theater fan and it's hard to have other theater groupies turning on you as well.

I guess it's just a harsh world.

See you guys at the shows! :)

okay one word describes this: AWESOME!

That is great! I love it and I wish you guys were at one of my 5 times seeing the show, although their always seemed to be a crowd of WEDHEADS in the front. Rock On!

I made a list of all your faults, it was quite detailed and lengthy too and when I read it through I missed you. Your like a classic Eagles song, you just cant help but sing along even though it sometimes gets annoying too. sure, dress how you want... that is fine.. but hun, trashy is trashy. It was trashy.
Second of all, the fact that you said you will continue to keep doing proves that you have no repsect for the other audience members.
And lastly, even offstage, to a certain extent, cast members 'perform' in front of fans. Just because they say "wow cool" to your face, doesn't mean they don't laugh behind your back.

Wowwww why are you so mean?

If someone said to you, could you not be so mean would you do it just because we say so? I mean I think that's pretty disrespectful.

And if you were a performer, you would laugh at your fans behind their back?

HollyImposter, the fact remains that there is no excuse for acting that way in a theatre. People were screaming and dancing and singing along when I saw RENT, and I wanted to strangle them all.

Dress up if you want (though I cannot guarantee that people will receive that well,) but when the lights go down, you need to sit down and shut up.

I don't want to sound mean (really, I don't), but he's right. I say this as someone who's seen and heard it happen. I'm not saying I know THIS entire cast's specific opinions (and even if I did, it would be beyond rude to put them here), but in my experience that's very true in general. That is one reason I can't stand people (I'm not referring to you guys here) who meet people at stage doors then claim to know their personalities. Tell me you've never been nice to someone you didn't like...

I am a fan of many things, a big fan of some... I have made costumes for several things (conventions, movie openings, etc...) but there are places/times where dressing up is appropriate and I just don't think this is one of them. On Halloween? Ok, sure. Once randomly? Ok, a little wierd, but whatever. But over and over and over again?

Maybe I'm crazy, but I think when you're watching live theater the point is for the attention to be on the actors. You are not "stealing the thunder" from the fans, you're stealing it from the performers, who work hard and do this 8 times a week.

Okay some of you may have a point if the name of the show were Grey Gardens or Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, but comon this is The Wedding Singer. This show is a blast from beginning to end and I think it's great that the fans are into it like this. And judging from stagedoor for TWS, the cast would love it!

How many times have I heard Tina Maddigan say something about the energy of the crowd - and even Felicia Finley asking people how many times they have seen the show. This cast eats this up! Don't let a few opinions on here stop you from having a blast at this show :) Again, ROCK ON!

Again, the point made above: stage door does not always equal real life. I'm not saying that everyone hates their fans (I'm sure they don't), but you really can't use that as a convincing argument.

Frankly, if they're not actively annoying the audience (which is a subjective thing) and not following the cast home, they could all be dressed as Cousin It for all it should matter.

Agreed, bwaysinger. I haven't been in Japan in a year and a half, and my crazies are STILL after me. Nasty emails, nasty letters. . .but cool gifts!

I think these girls are great. Only saw them in the lobby. . .were they really distracting during the show? If not, then why is everyone coming down so hard on them? It's ok to dress up for Rocky Horror, but not for Wedding Singer?

I hate to say this, but "YOU GO GIRLS!"

I didn't want to get involved, but I'm sucked in now.

I met two of the girls this morning on the rush line. They were very nice and friendly, enthusiastic about the show, and excited to be there and a part of it. However, I will have to see how they are later tonight when they are dressed up in costume and I am next to them in the audience.

I have seen plenty of crazy fans at Wedding Singer, and while some of them are way too overboard, being enthusiastic about a show and supporting it by dressing up is fine. Not something I would ever do, but hey, if more people were that excited about the show, it may not be closing in a couple weeks!

I don't have a strong opinion on this either way, though I do lean to the side of don't dress up, I think it has to do with aesthetic. And not to start non-WS fans on the quality/aesthetic of the show, but dressing up/audience participation is part of the Rocky Horror aesthetic, it's an accepted tradition. Generally, I would deduce, both the performers and audience at least expect that when going to see the show. Performers, definitely...the audience shouldn't be surprised, if they don't expect it; I mean, they bought tickets to RH, most people are at least aware of the cult following/crazy antics.

But as of now, Wedding Singer isn't that (and I hope it doesn't become that).

Holly, someday you will grow up and things like having George's towel thrown to you won't matter any more. It's fine to have fun, but not at the expense of either the cast or other audience members.

We're not trying to offend the fans. We're not trying to steal your thunder. We know some of you have seen it like hundreds of times and we respect that.

Like Drunky said, you aren't disrespecting the other fans as much as you are disrespecting the actors on stage. Cheering & clapping after songs is one thing, but putting on your own performance that takes away from the performance on stage is not OK.

DrunkyMcWasted:

#1) Cute icon

#2) I don't claim to know the cast members' personalities. I don't think that they go and bad mouth us, but I could be totally wrong. But I don't care. They really do act like they love it and that's enough and until I hear about it from a cast member directly, I don't plan to stop. I really think that if the screaming subsides, there's no reason as to why we would be distractions. The show is good enough to hold the audience's attention. Not four girls sitting in chairs.

Thanks to those who thinks it rocks and thanks to the chick who defended us! We promise not to spoil your night!

holly, i was doing body shots the other night off the trim taut tummies of several of the cast members who only in the late glow of early morning with slurred speech admitted to me, "them little sh*ts scare the living hell outta us. if we could get away with having them drop a follow spot on them to shut them the f*ck up during the show, we'd would totally name my first kids 'local one,' 'iatse' and 'lycian.'" take that as you will.

avab802 :

I don't believe it is at the expense of the cast or the audience. There is absolutely no reason as to why it should be such an issue. When I say we put on a show, I don't mean in the show, I mean just in life. On the streets. When the lights go down, we focus on the show, as should the rest of the world.

What if some crazy person came to see the show decked out in a crazy outfit. Everyone would stare at that person. When the show started though, they would completely forget about them as should most people forget about us. I asked the people behind me if my hair or Linda's veil distracted them or if they couldn't see and they were like "Not at all! You girls are so adorable!" Once again they could have lied but they were a couple of middle aged women who would have probably let us know if their view was blocked in their $111 seats.

And to BroadwayBoy2, if you are a performer who makes fun of your audience members, then that says something about you. I'm not going to make an assumption about this wonderful cast that would fall in line with who you are.

papalovesmambo:

We only applaud when the songs are over. I already said we'd stop the screaming but it's not like we talk during the show. I've heard some fans talking during the show so maybe they were talking about them.

Otherwise, that's a very rude thing to say anyway.

That's just it, though. You're trying to be attention grabbers. It's not about you...it's about the show.
