Looks like it was not available at the TKTS booth today...which I believe is great for the show and its future.
Side Show was dark today Sunday.

I love the new revisal of SIDE SHOW and am planning to go back and take my mother on December 21 but Peter Filichia's column on Friday raised some interesting issues. This critic thinks that when Daisy finds out that Terry won't marry her, she should say, “I understand, Terry. I know I’m asking a lot. So no hard feelings. Let me instead thank you for taking me and Violet away from the freak show and getting us into vaudeville. You made our lives so much better than they were, and I’ll always love you for it.”
Great point! What do other people think? I provided a link to his article.
My first reaction is that Peter Felicia shouldn't write books for musicals? That is some pretty blunt, boring, on the nose dialogue.
He shouldn't write books of any kind. His tastes are beyond stale.
As far as the book goes, when they just said the mother had a strange reaction when she saw that she had given birth to conjoined twins, I immediately thought, "No one told her the birth went a little wonky until she saw them?!" I mean, how did they get those two out of her to begin with? If you're not going to answer that question, don't introduce it.

Nice review on Out.com, plus Bill Condon addressing why a character was made gay this time.

Show currently on TDF for 13 dates.

"Side Show" is worth a look. Its message is important — to accept others, to appreciate differences and to be proud of who you are.
In the memorable opening number of the revamped musical "Side Show," the creators leave nothing to the imagination. There's the Dog Boy covered in hair. The lizard man with reptilian skin. The bearded lady. The Human Pin Cushion, who for added effect sticks a needle through his body. But the main attraction in this odd circus troupe are a pair of conjoined twins: Daisy and Violet Hilton.Joined at the hip, the two leads, Erin Davie (Violet) and Emily Padget (Daisy) are excellent."

Saw it last night. had seen the original. Fourth row orchestra on TDF. Enjoyed it....
Rather than starting a new thread on this, I am posting it here. We had a better one "Go See Sideshow" but it is now locked by the mods
On Channel 4 News at 5 or 6 they had a great spot on Sideshow & the original Hilton sisters. I do not know if Channel 4 did it on their own or if the shows PR department got the ball rolling with them. If this is the PR departments doing great job. They just got ton of free publicity

THANK GOD! If they needed 1 review to really seal the deal, that's definitely the NY Times! At this point from what I'm seeing there's more love for this production then hate. I mean the hate is mostly about the show itself, which is nothing you can drastically change, but can make better by adding in the right people, which they certainly have. I'm hoping to see this in March on my Spring Break really excited about it!
Channel 4 repeated the twins interview/Hilton backstory this morning before 9am on Saturday Morning NY or whatever it is called! Great! About a 4 minute segement
And the video of Michael Reidl's interview on THEATER TALK just went up on youtube. Some fun moments!
THEATER TALK SIDE SHOW
Kreiger and Russell seem like they're two of the sweetest people on earth.
And here's the Channel 4 NBC report Mr. Roxy mentioned about the Hiltons and the interview with the show's leads - But on Saturday it was introduced and ended with a reporter talking about the great reception audiences were giving the show.

Perez Hilton is a fan...
"Go! Go! Go!
Side Show is THE new show of the winter!
It did it! The little show that could, one of our top 3 musicals of all time, is back on Broadway! It warmed our heart to see Side Show on the Great White Way again and playing to a nearly capacity Sunday matinee audience! We saw it in this incarnation back in July at the Kennedy Center and we saw the original production back in the '90s - twice!
Henry Krieger and Bill Russell have crafted one of the truly most timeless and special scores in all of musical theater history! This production has a phenomenal staging by Bill Condon and everyone in the cast does a fine job.
If you have never seen Side Show, then you MUST! It is essential!"

"Nearly capacity Sunday matinee..." This is the best news for the production yet. Will be curious to see the box office this holiday week.
But it's fairly ridiculous as a review (another obsession with American Idol vocals), particularly his suggestion that the original stars return, at age 50, to replace these.
With all these mostly positive reviews...SS is not selling and tourists have no interest. Also, everyone I speak with or see (even away out of town for the holidays with family-relatives) has no interest in seeing it unfortunately even though I praise the show.
Btw, as the 2nd busiest week-end of the year your box office should and always has gone up in the past especially for musicals so what is happening with SS?
Producers you better start marketing this aggressively as the reviews are not bringing people in!
As I said on:
SIDE SHOW Reviews Nov 22 2014, 11:42:10 PM
Well I hope the producers and their marketing team use these mostly positive reviews and find an audience and target the tourists the next 7 weeks or this show may not see past 91 performances that is of the original production.
A friend saw it tonight 11/22 and said the orch was pretty much sold out but the mezz. where he was sitting was pretty much empty as only around 40 people where sitting upstairs. He asked an usher how the houses have been and she said since opening around at approx.
Looks like a repeat of the original productions box office woes.
Also, the St. James is just way too big for this show.
What were they thinking...yes, Jordan(Jujamcyn) luved the show and only had the James available but they should have waited for the spring or when a smaller-mid size house in the 1000-1100 seat range opened up.
Yeah, would NEXT TO NORMAL have worked in the St. James? And if SIDE SHOW had gone into the Booth, it would be playing to 80-90% capacity.
The only time the Director Bill Condon was available was this fall. He has a film about to open and he starts prep work on BEAUTY AND THE BEAST now. It was NOT POSSIBLE to wait. Sometimes things have to open when they have to open. Yes, everyone should wait till spring. But saying that is irrational if you know the business. It was not all about Jordan Roth.

Side Show is not selling the balcony though, correct? So it is really about the same as a mid sized theatre, am I right?
