For a show that is getting such strong buzz for a broadway transfer; it is a odd thing that it would be playing a cruise ship at this point in its life. I don't know why the fact that this is bizarre is so hard for you to comprehend."
I have no problem with the 'bizarre' thing (it is), it is the rest of the meaningless superficial judgementalnonsenserubbish flowing from this person I struggle with.
We don't know how long ago this deal was made, it could've been made long ago.
People forget that it was only announced in January that the show was even going to continue running in London, initially it was only a 3 month run.
The show has been a runaway hit that has all happened very quickly, this could've all been arranged long before American runs were even planned.
My point is, I don't think the people involved probably care about such things anyways, this seems a very American theatre snob way of looking at the situation, they are still shocked the show has even been a success.
Jamie has been running for what 2years and still has no plans for Broadway and yet Six is going to probably beat it there."
I think you are projecting a lot. Who is surprised the show is such a success? Not me. Playing a cruise ship at this point in this shows life is not ordinary,. It is bizarre, and a bit tacky. I don't care if you think I am a snob. You started your first response by saying "that istwas not bizarre and very smart".. And it IS bizarre.. and not very smart. I think the one that is a snob is you."
Jesus..."
Yeah.. when you have been schooled and caught with your pants down.. go to Jesus.
Lets just hope this cruise ship thing is a mistake that will be corrected."
Do you people actually read what I write or just see that my opinion is different to yours and go on the attack?
Think with your logical mind for a change instead of your emotional one.
You are not schooling anyone, this is a very different situation that rarely happens so fast especially for something from Britain.
Would it be bizarre if it was a proper Off Broadway musical that was going on a cruise ship so early on in it's run then I would agree that it was VERY 'bizarre'. But it is not. It is a little cabaret show that launched at a comedy festival in the UK and less than a year later was already playing in the US with hopes of going to Broadway in the future I would say no. A little cabaret show from England playing on a cruise ship is not 'bizarre' to me.
As I have already stated you have no idea how long ago it was decided to do it, it may have been long before they even knew it was going to the US or was going to take off the way it has.
Just because something is good doesn't mean it is going to go on and be hugely successful all over the world. There are MANY English productions that never do anything after their initial run.

You are most welcome. So glad to hear you enjoyed it! I'm seeing it for the third time in a couple of weeks."
i go back to your city in a few weeks as well. But don't think I can squeeze the show in again. But maybe this time a drink at Sidetracks? I will pm you when it gets closer. Did you make it to Ms Black? How was it?

Haha I had my message in quotation marks followed by an eye roll emoji which wasn’t posted because it was an emoji... that picture is even better...
I agree with you Impossible, the fact that it’s doing a cruise ship tour beforehand means absolutely nothing... to me anyway...

Except that is not what is being discussed. Someone said it was a bizarre occurence. Which it is. They also had some valid points. All here for all to read. The fact that it means nothing to you is neither here nor there.
What was the last original show to play a cruise ship and then play broadway?

When was the last time a British pop concert/stand up comedy/cabaret show was on Broadway within 18 months of its debut in a comedy festival?

Honey we love you, we just don't really get your pearl clutching on this one.
If you want the show to do well, surely that means as many people get an opportunity to experience it as possible no matter where they see it.
You saw it in Chicago which I imagine is a much better venue than it is currently in in London where it is in a tiny and pretty horrible grotty theatre with ****e seats.
For those of us who have seen it there a nice shiny cruise ship would be a MAJOR step up x
There are also already productions planned internationally which may open before the show hits New York. They seem to be taking a very different approach to the roll out of the show as a "brand," and who knows they may be on to something. Time will tell.

Maybe. But it is still bizarre. Nothing really wrong with it ( I just threw up in my mouth a little) .. but just bizarre.
Impossible2 said: "Maybe the people quoting you deleted some stuff because the posts was getting too long?
Usually there will be'edited by BWW staff for' if a post has been edited."
You have it backwards...the quoted text is intact, just not the original. And they don't always remember to credit themselves with the deletion.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Yeah we got that x"
It is bizarre to me as well. I mean; you got this hit show with a lot of buzz here in the states. A smash hit in its Chicago engagement. All kinds of New York industry people visiting Chicago to presumably nurture its next move. All over the local press almost every single . A rave from the New York Times. So it does seem odd that it will be playing a cruise ship next. No matter how it came about. I get to see it one more time this week. The Longacre seems like a good broadway house for it. I hope those rumors are true.
