Re: SPRING AWAKENING revival (Off-Broadway at Studio Seaview)

The good news is that I am arriving on my New York City trip in time to see the revival. The bad news is that I am arriving just before the last weekend and already have shows booked on Friday and Saturday nights. I have never seen Spring Awakening in person and my spouse is very interested.

This could be challenging.

Prices for the initial run look high. Is that pretty much the way it is (i.e. no discounts)? Another dumb questions: I signed up for the presale, but is Wednesday only for subscribers - and how do you subscribe? Or is signing up for the presale the equivalent of becoming a subscriber? It’s fine with waiting until Thursday’s general sale. I just want to know when I need to wake up early, as I am on the West Coast. Apologies if I am missing something obvious on the website.

SPRING AWAKENING revival (Off-Broadway at Studio Seaview)

I am so glad that I purchased my tickets for this on the first day. Last weekend I saw Ashlyn Maddox lead The Snow Goose at Goodspeed. She was excellent and I left saying she is a star. I had no idea that she was cast as Wendla so I am super psyched. I can’t wait to see her perform again.

While they’ll be long gone by the time general onsale goes live tomorrow, I’m impressed they kept the ticket price brackets relatively the same. I was easily able to snag a couple $79 seats in March once I got the email. A bargain, considering I had to cough up more than I’d planned to during the last presale for early February seats.

She was my personal highlight of Parade! So happy her star is on the rise.

She was also wonderful in Bye Bye Birdie at the kennedy Center

I believe she and Tyler Jordan Wesley (Melchior) went to the same University in Texas. maybe same time?

LOL. In all fairness, though, Cooper is significantly younger than the women who played the role in the original production. (Christine Estabrook was 55 when the Broadway production opened; Cooper is 36.) So is Abud. So it seems like they're wanting to take the characters in a different direction.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Oh - you're totally right, but it's just such a jerk to the system having seen her play Martha many times during the original run.

I saw a clip on their socials of her talking about playing the role and how it will feel being the one who interacts with Martha now. It is such a full circle moment.

But, yes - I feel ancient despite it all.
