The original Broadway cast of Joshua Harmon's Significant Other is live-streaming a reading tonight (5/14/20) at 8pm EST. I saw the Chicago premiere and have word wonderful things about the New York cast.

I saw the announcement on Talking Broadway but didn't see anything here so I figured I'd post a link.

Saw it off-Broadway and loved it. Gideon Glick, at the end, left me breathless.

The fact that Gideon Glick wasn’t nominated for the Tony he should have won is still mind-boggling to me

It really was so good, and it worked really well on screen (IMO). They should make this into a movie with the same cast.

It was so great to see this play again. I saw it Off-Broadway (didn’t get a chance to see it when it transferred). Gideon Glick definitely should have won the Tony for this. And Barbara Barrie and Lindsay Mendez should have been nominated. So wonderful.

Wow it was so good and engaging even on this socially distant form. Like I feel the play actually worked with the desperate screens. Hope to see more with this professionalism and energy. I loved the show on Broadway and so glad to get to see it again.

forgot how wonderful a play this was and what a terrific cast. They're all great (and some, i think, doing even better close up like this) but Barbara Barrie is almost 90 and look at her go!

thrilled they did this. 

and agree to all of the above re Gideon being robbed not just of a nomination, but the dang award.

I totally agree 1000%. Gideon was better than everyone in his category that season, and that includes Kevin Kline, who won for ''Present Laughter.'' I think Gideon was basically crowded out of his category by veteran actors: Kline, Dennis Arndt, Chris Cooper and Jefferson Mays. The fifth slot was taken by Corey Hawkins, who was in ''Six Degrees of Separation,'' which was still running. Unfortunately, ''Significant Other'' closed April 23, about 2 weeks before the Tony nominations were announced. If it were still playing in May, that last slot might've gone to Gideon. (The only awards organization to recognize Gideon was the Drama League.)

Similarly, Joshua Harmon should've been Tony-nominated for Best Play, too, but his show had already closed. The four Best Play nominees - ''A Doll's House, Part 2,'' ''Indecent,'' ''Oslo'' and ''Sweat'' - were still running. It's often hard for closed shows to score nominations; sometimes, it seems like the nominators rather throw their support and help the ones that are still on the boards.

This was my first experience with the play and I found it absolutely thrilling (heard about it and had it on my long list of scripts to read). It has been a long time since I have seen I play I can relate to (both in comedy and heart)

Absolutely loved this! It was done so well and all of the actors killed it! Barbara Barrie is absolutely incredible. Seeing Gideon's performance live and in person was heartbreaking and this was no different. Kudos to all involved, give us more!!

I saw this show twice on Broadway and it was really a treat to be able to experience it again tonight. A wonderful reminder of everything I love about theater. Also, Barbara Barrie's line about this being "a tough chapter in a long book" was definitely something I needed to hear right now. Thank you to everyone who made this livestream possible, and to those who donated to the Actor's Fund while watching!

The scene between Gideon and Lindsay at the bachelorette party was just as gut wrenching as it was in the theatre. And I was actually more moved by Barbara Barrie tonight than when I saw it on Broadway. As someone said earlier, her line about life being a long book and this being a difficult chapter really resonated in this time.

I was so shocked this didn’t hit bigger on Broadway. I remember thinking the marketing was so terrible. I’m glad it’s getting some love now.

I'm so proud of the producers for bringing ''Significant Other'' to Broadway, but it was always going to be a tough sell. It didn't have a big-name star. It's not based on a well-known movie or book. And it's a play about a 29-year-old single gay guy, while Broadway audiences are over 70% tourists, and many are looking for musicals. I also think the generational divide kept established critics and older audiences from embracing it. When I saw this show at the Booth, the audience was packed with ''Significant''-ly younger people, roaring their heads off. If only more of them could've discovered it and given it the longer run it deserved.

I saw this off Broadway. Did she cry onstage during that line about life being a book? I can't remember but last night it ripped my heart out. It was so timely and it just seemed to hit her as she was saying it last night.

I've loved this play since I saw it Off-Broadway. I think this was its best incarnation yet. All of the actors deepened in their performances, especially Mendez and Barrie. I noticed one or two small line changes as well (like the comparison of his body to John Goodman), not sure if that was intentional or not.
