Hello all,
I wanted to take my younger brother to go see Sleep No More, but he is 15 years old. The website says you have to be 16 to get in, but do they ask for ID, or do they just assume?
16, really? I would have thought it was 18+. It has all the nudity, violence, etc.
I think he would only get ID'd at the bar.

Since they have informed you of the age restriction, they have the right to refuse entry to anyone younger. So you take a chance that they could do so. Just saying. Especially if he looks young.

They check ID's as you wait on line to get in because they either stamp your hand or mark it with a big X so they know whether to serve you alcohol. I don't know if they are strict about the 16 or not, but they do check everyone.
Punchdrunk are strict with age. Even by a day under 16, they will refuse entry. They do this with 'The Drowned Man' at least so I would think 'Sleep No More' would be the same.

Not sure I would want my 15 year old wandering around the dark cavernous multi-floor, multi-room building with plenty of locations to be out of my sight…not to mention I am not sure much of this is really appropriate for a 15 year old. One thing to read and discuss Macbeth in school…another to witness some of it in such an environment but you are the parent.
15 is older than a lot of us are remembering. Personally if they're with an adult, I think it would be fine. But if they say 16+ then it's 16+.

I can hear Brian's helicopter blades all the way over here.

And it isn't really "Macbeth" - more nudity than any play production I've seen.

Namo…HA helicopter blades.
Maybe my response was due to having just read a Michael Musto article about a famous NY Dr who published a book about his molestation while a boy scout.
Yes Jordan…easy to forget about what was going on in our mind back when 15.
Even is the 15 yr old were to attend with a parent - both would be slightly disappointed as we all have discussed this is not a show to experience with someone hand-in-hand.

They responded to my email and said that anybody under 16 has to sign a waiver and they can go in.

They should've sent a waiver to the parents and a map to the orgy room to the kid.
Except a 15 year old has no "right" to sign anything. I would think a PARENT (not a sibling) would need to sign the waiver.
I don't think the waiver thing is true at all. Last time I was there the woman in front of me on line had her fourteen year old daughter with her. The bouncer put an X on both her hands and told her she had to stay with her mother the whole time.

Just a point of clarification, there is no "orgy room".
There is when I'm there.
"Just a point of clarification, there is no "orgy room"."
Well ... there pretty much is. The scene withe the witches, strobe lights, rave-y soundtrack, naked guy with the goat head and lots of chocolate sauce can't be described in any other way really. Maybe Namo never found that room (we missed it the first time we attended, and only learned about it later on this very website).
To not make Namo's mistake-- SPOILER, I guess-- head down the 4th floor lane with the storefronts to the end and turn left down the corrugated tin back alley to arrive at a deserted bar much like a disturbed version of the deco bar downstairs. When the witches make a shrieking racket in the storefront lane, the orgy is about to begin.

Oh dear, I have seen the witches' rave probably 15 times in two different cities. It does not take place in an orgy room. The action depicted is not an orgy.
It might not be an orgy but it's extremely sexual and just f*cking DISTURBING.

Yes, it is carnal and disturbing. There is nudity. There is no penetration, simulated or otherwise.
No, not at all. But it's one of the most uncomfortable experiences I've ever had, watching that.
Yeah but squirt enough chocolate syrup around and I immediately go all post-coital...

Understandable. Bald witch once handed me a rather vaginal piece of bread. I did what any creative individual would do, smeared the chocolate on my mask.
